I booked this hotel because of the location near Frankfurt Hbf (main station) but the area around the hotel did not feel safe for my friend and me. The way Google maps took us to the hotel around the block were erotic stores, sex hotels (literally says it on the sign), and a bunch of men hanging in doorways smoking pot. There were so many men all around that entire block, and no women that we saw. We already had a bad vibe by the time we arrived at the hotel. Once we checked in and made it to our room, we could barely fit in the small room with our luggage (2 suitcases and 2 backpacks). There was no room to walk around and the bathroom was quite small. The shower was see through to the bedroom (might be ok for a couple, but awkward for friends). The hotel had only provided one set of towels, one pillow, and one duvet (we had to call and ask for another set). There are no toiletry items provided. The curtain was falling off the window. We could hear chanting from a homeless person outside the window. There was no additional lock on the door from the inside. Ultimately we decided to leave that evening even though I had prepaid for two nights. It was that disconcerting that we didn't feel like it was a good idea to stay. I travel internationally a lot, and I always look for hotels that are rated well and read reviews from other travelers. I have never switched hotels prior to this one. I felt it was important to share our experience, especially for any female or family travelers.
I think it is also important to note that I did reach out to the hotel to ask for a refund and they refused. They said they have no influence on the area...
Read moreLocation: The hotel was close to the Central Station, but also close to Frankfurt's red light district, including many casinos, bars and shops selling alcoholic beverages. The area did not feel too safe.
Room: Had room 25. The room was generally clean. Maybe not the most modern facility, but all the essentials existed. Good water pressure and good lights in the bathroom (good for makeup!). Enough space to open a big luggage. The bed was not very comfortable (spring matress?). One single pillow, but fluffy enough. Not very good noise isolation to the hall and to the street. We did not have that great sleep during our visit. A bit werid lightening system - with a frosted glasswall between the bedroom and bathroom. So the whole room lit up when the bathroom lamp was on - making it impossible to go to the bathroom in the night without waking the roomie.
Hotel: The hotel otherwise looks pretty clean. Small elevator. Weird that the elevator does not take you all the way to the selected floor. There were a couple of additional stairs (about 10 steps?) to the selected floor. Not too great with heavy luggages.
All in all, it's a cheap hotel with all the essential facilifies. But you get what...
Read moreI stayed 7 days in April 2016.
Pros: The staff were very polite and always asked if I understood German before continuing the conversation. The breakfast was excellent every morning, superior to most other continental options I've had. The Internet was good, I had 15 Mbps down and 0.5 Mbps up. You get a code per device that is good for X days. The room was nice and freshened up before noon every day. The location was awesome! I could easily walk to the ETS tour office, train station, MyZeil Mall, the Romer Plaza and a dozen museums. Plus the red light district is a couple blocks away if that's your thing. ATM, pub, and a general store across the street.
Cons: My room smelled faintly of sewage if I left the private bathroom door open and the windows closed. The room had the round two prong European power outlets only, don't forget an adapter to power your devices as needed. I had a street facing room and it could get quite loud in the evening hours. There were several groups of homeless people across the street that asked for money and would follow a short distance begging. Thankfully no pick pocketing or other...
