The Fairy Tale Fountain (Märchenbrunnen) is situated at the intersection of Willy-Brant-Plaza and Untermainanlage. It is the work of Austrian sculptor Friedrich Christoph Hausmann and was unveiled in 1910.
What you see is a marble nymph in seated position over an Art Nouveau style fountain featuring water-spouting mythical creatures, dolphins and two children playing around a limestone half-shell bowl fixed atop a small base positioned in the centre of a ground level basin into which water spills when the fountain is in operation.
It is a lovely fountain monument which was not in operation when we passed by during December. Still nice to view during off-season. This would be a nice fountain to view during the warmer months...
