Stunning views of Frankfurt city, but...
What makes Frankfurt unique is the skyline that only a few European cities have, but you won’t necessarily appreciate it from up here. You get to see amazing views of the old city, the river Main, busy train station, and even planes landing at Frankfurt Airport, but you will simply not see the skyline! For that, you need to look elsewhere (an option could be the 7th floor of Galeria Kaufhof)!
Nevertheless the views are great (especially looking right below you into the city, because the horizon is pretty flat) and I ended up spending more than an hour and half during golden hour until sunset. I had as much time as needed, no way was rushing me down, however towards the sunset time, the deck got quite busy.
It is an open deck, which is great from the photographer's perspective and I didn't have to play with my camera to find an angle without glare. Limited seating available around the antenna and toilets are located on the lower floor, right below the open deck.
I purchased my ticket online but it didn't make any difference in terms of queuing (waited only about 10 minutes), there was only one line, no separation for the ones already having a ticket - this should be addressed and changed! Once having a ticket a quick security check was needed. Price tag of 9 EUR seems more than reasonable for what you get. Visited...
Read moreMain Tower in Frankfurt is a strikingly beautiful skyscraper that offers one of the best panoramic views in the city. Standing at 200 meters tall, it’s the fourth tallest building in Frankfurt and has a unique glass façade that allows natural light to flood the interior, creating an open and inviting atmosphere. One of the main advantages of Main Tower is its public observation deck, which provides a breathtaking 360-degree view of Frankfurt’s skyline, the Main River, and the surrounding areas. This view, especially at sunset, is exceptionally beautiful and offers a unique perspective on the city’s blend of historic and modern architecture.
The building’s design is both sleek and modern, contributing to Frankfurt's reputation as a city of impressive architecture. With its cylindrical structure and blue-tinted glass exterior, Main Tower stands out, adding elegance to the skyline.
Inside, visitors will find a high-quality restaurant on the upper floors, allowing them to enjoy fine dining with spectacular views. The building also hosts artwork and exhibitions, adding a cultural touch to the experience. Overall, Main Tower is not only a marvel of modern architecture but also an excellent spot for anyone looking to enjoy stunning, scenic views of Frankfurt. It truly captures the essence of the city’s...
Read moreDisappointing Visit to Main Tower Frankfurt
My recent visit to the Main Tower in Frankfurt was unfortunately quite disappointing, primarily due to extremely poor visitor management. From the outset, we were forced to wait outside the building, regardless of the weather, which was a very unwelcoming start. The staff, both at reception and security, seemed completely indifferent to visitors. We were repeatedly told "10 more minutes," leading to a frustrating 40-minute wait just to get inside. Once past that hurdle, we encountered another 30-minute delay waiting for an unattended lift. To make matters worse, firefighters then took over the lift due to a technical issue, an important detail that neither the receptionist nor security bothered to announce.
While the view from the top was "okayish," it certainly didn't compensate for the excessive waiting times and the overall unpleasant experience. Compared to other well-managed towers in Munich and Berlin that clearly prioritize tourists, the Main Tower falls short in its visitor care. My personal opinion: Don't waste your time which can be spent in seeing other great attractions...
