We took a large group of uni students to Buch ein Bett in March and found that it was quite reasonably priced compared to other hostels. The location was really good as it was close to the Reeperbahn (Hamburg's red light district) but nowhere near as noisy as we expected. ||We booked 2 rooms of 9 beds and a room of 3 which we needed to change to a 4, and Buch ein Bett was really obliging when we asked to add an additional bed. The 9 bed rooms were very small for 9 people, and the triple bunk beds weren't very comfortable. Our room had a table in the middle of the room which was useful until one of the legs just gave out and it completely collapsed! One girl then went to pull the curtain shut and the rail fell down! We thought these facilities weren't ideal. ||The bathroom was good (very powerful shower) but we weren't given anywhere near enough toilet paper for 9 girls for 3 nights so had to buy our own. ||Our flight got in late so it was really helpful that the hostel texted us all of the codes to get into the rooms beforehand. ||Overall the hostel served our purpose quite well and was a good location but the room was really...
Read moreWe stayed here as a group of 6 for three nights.||The location is brilliant for the Reeperbahn and St Paulis football ground. It can be seen from the front door. ||Across the road is a cracking restaurant called Di-Bento and various cafe, bars a stone throw away.||We had two rooms with its own entrance situated in the basement. Which had a galley kitchen with sink, fridge, oven, coffee maker etc. ||Each room had a shower room with toilet, sink and shower which was very powerful and temperature was good. Two bunk beds a table and chairs and lockers with a couple of hangers. Plenty of sockets to charge phones etc.||Each room also had a code operated locking door system as did the front door so our passports and items were very safe including cctv in the corridor. ||Overall the rooms were dated but clean and tidy and catered for travellers. The pillows, mattresses very comfy which is all you want when your on a stag do. The shower was good, there is a fridge and more importantly this was value for money. ||Defiantly...
Read moreWe booked the hostel the morning that we were planning on staying and arrived between 11 o'clock and midnight as previously selected when booking. Upon arrival we were unable to check in as reception was closed. We called the number on the door and were told sorry, you'll have to find alternative accommodation. At this point the hostel had already taken payment. We spoke to reception the following day and were told it was impossible as they had e-mailed us the day before (whilst we were travelling and therefore unable to access our emails) When we looked at the emails we had received an email saying that we needed to agree, in writing, to the hostel taking out money before arrival, however the hostel had in fact already taken our money! Complete shambles, it needs to be communicated on the booking agents website that you must contact the hostel if you wish to check in after 8pm. However, that said, location is good and...
