I booked this hotel for 2 nights as my accommodation was full. I checked in on Saturday night around 5pm and I can confirm that they have a 24 hour reception. The hotel building is a very old building, first of all, you should accept this. They have an average price of 100EUR per night including breakfast. The lady who I think is the owner of the hotel is a kind person. But the Albanian lady who works there is a wonderful person. He is my favorite. There is another male employee during the day but I have no comment on him, he was respectful. As for the rooms, I stayed in room 302. The bathroom was very, very small and the shower was separated by a shower curtain. Especially after a shower, it is almost impossible to use the bathroom. The floors are incredibly wet, there is nothing to dry, towels are not enough to keep the floor dry. Without an outside window, the fan is not enough and it doesn't dry on its own. There is no shower tray or even a restricted shower area. The ground is solid and flat. Breakfast was good, same every day but good. If you count the hot varieties, there is maybe only one boiled egg. I think they could offer a different hot dish every day. But the products were of good quality and served very neatly. Breakfast includes fruit juice, tea and filter coffee. Fruit juice is unlimited from the machine. They can hold the luggage until the time you want. The location of the hotel is very central and in a safe area. You will not have the slightest problem. Close to historical places, very close to Syntagma metro stop.
There is no hair dryer in the rooms. This doesn't make much sense to me, but it may be that in Greece they don't usually have them in hotels of this caliber.
They didn't mention any tax addition to the total price, I think they include it.
I can't say there is a lobby or a common area, there is a very, very small seating group, but I haven't seen anyone sitting yet and it is in a ramshackle place under the stairs.
The doors of the rooms do not close properly and I did not need it as I was traveling alone, but it is not suitable for a loud activity.
To be honest, the bed itself was comfortable, although the bed frame was old.
There is often street noise at night, so if you are disturbed, you may not be able to sleep. There is a...
Read moreThe Acropolis House is very well located for travelers looking for easy access to the Acropolis, sitting just inside the Plaka, and a short walk from the Metro Station, which we took in from the airport.
For our two night stay we had room 403, a fourth floor walk up. Our room included a balcony off of the main bedroom, and a small single bedroom, through which we gained access to the bath, which consisted of a toilet, sink and shower. The main bedroom included a queen bed and single bed. All of this worked fine for our four person family.
At the entrance to the room, a small window offered a view of the Acropolis; a larger window view of the Acropolis was available from the hall just outside our room. The main room included an effective air conditioner. The beds were on the hard side. There is a safe in the room.
Our breakfast was included, and was a big hit with the whole family. Mrs. Diamonto's small pancakes were delightful and she also serves delicious her homemade cherry and marmalade preserves. The coffee was excellent.
The hotel is located among several other hotel buildings and there are many very good restaurants nearby. The hotel building itself is dated and clearly requires regular repairs. The owner lives on the premises and appeared to be fully engaged in the upkeep.
The Acropolis House is a budget option situated within easy walking distance from Athens' most appealing tourist destinations. Though it is dated and offers limited amenities, the Acropolis House staff were friendly and helpful. Our family enjoyed our short stay at the...

We are a family (2adults + 2kids). During our holiday we usually stay in 4 hotels/B&Bs, as we like to explore countries where we travel. That was supposed to be our last, 5th accommodation in Greece, and we planned to stay three nights.
At the Acropolis House, first, we were surprised with a request, that we have to pay in cash, even it states on booking.com "We accept cards"!
Maybe we were unlucky, and the other rooms look different, but the condition of our room was very disappointing. We got a room behind the reception, right next to the canteen, and a storage room where a guy was dropping bags with clean bedding.
My kids always value a hotel by its bathroom condition. They called me to have a look. Everything was quite old like form 60's, and not clean enough. There was a characteristic smell of an old bathroom. Furniture and bet looked like last 50 years someone was using them. I am not a spoilt tourist at all. I slept in 4000m in the Himalayas where most of the people would not sleep, but for €160 per night I felt cheated. I went to the reception and said:" This is the worst hotel I have ever seen". The guy tells me: "I have to talk to my boss about it" He was on the line for a few minutes till I lost my patience and left.
I have selected this hotel based on its location and good ratings. I think this was a good location but ratings are overstated entirely, and I must say I am a bit suspicious about the credibility of some of them. The hotel would be acceptable for a price...
