What can I say? We stayed in Athens only for 3 nights before travelling to Corfu. The hotel itself is quite good and fully deserves the stated three stars. Clean, polite staff, large rooms, and comfortable beds. Large bathroom, but the shower cabin was really small, although there is enough space even for a walk-in shower. If you have mobility issues, keep in mind that there is a narrow spiral staircase leading all way up. There is a lift, but it is small, accommodating a maximum of two people. The air conditioner in our room was very noisy, we turned it off and opened the window. As a result, we were bitten by the evil Athenian mosquitos 🦟 But it's our fault, really. So, don't forget to buy mosquito repellent. Breakfast was ok. Buffet. Not a lot of choice, but not too bad. We had a room on the top, 7th, floor. I think we were just lucky because we had amazing city and hills view. The windows of the rooms up to the 5th floor look at abandoned houses or the wall of the opposite building. So a tip, when booking, ask for a room as high as possible. Our room had a bonus - a small balcony. Now about the location. Oh! The good thing is, you can walk to the Acropolis in 20 minutes. And that's all. The first thing the taxi driver said when we arrived was “hide your phones and hold your bags.” And this is true, believe me. From the hotel to the nearest subway station, it was about a 5-minute walk, and it was a quest, although I am not a timid person. But I had two daughters with me, and I felt... well, let’s say, not comfortable in that area. Another tip. To get to the subway faster, turn left when leaving the hotel. This is the shortest path and the least stress. There are a lot of abandoned houses around (or do they seem abandoned). Very very (!) dirty streets. The smell is also off-putting. In the evening we tried not to walk there. To be honest, I live not far from Manchester, and there are areas of Manchester where I wouldn't go to at night. But in the area near the hotel, I did not feel safe even during the day. However, this is my personal opinion. In any case, the hotel itself is very decent despite all the disadvantages of the area. Close to the public transport, close to landmarks,...
Read moreThis was the scariest place i ever visited! The hotel itself is nice and clean, a typical 3 star hotel. Nothing less, nothing more. The staff was super nice and helpful but thats mostly how greek people are ( at least towards tourists ). Now for the "fun" part of this review. The street was FILLED with junkies doing heroin right there on the spot. We arrived around 22:00 and we didnt see them in front of hotel that much but there was a LOT of shady looking people just staring at us when we arrived ( both of us are females ). When we wanted to catch the first metro in 05:30 the next morning ( we only slept one night thank god ) we gave up and called a cab. Once we stepped out of hotel the cab driver told us to get inside the car quickly cuz there is a fight going on few meters behind us||( !!! ). We were just shocked! Some junkies were yelling and punching one another We decided to take a metro on Syntagma since we didnt feel safe going not even 5 minutes to the metro near hotel. Driver told us that area is basically a ghetto and that he drove many tourists from this hotel and they had the same experience and felt scammed. The main isdue is that their page and all other like booking, tripadvisor etc just dont give off the impression that the place is in a really shady part of Athens ( where btw greeks from the city never go ).While driving we saw many drug addicts sitting/laying on the streets and doing heroin. This is not about having "thick skin" its about not going to your vacation to a dirty, unsafe and scary place. Its very depressing and im sure those images will stick with me for a long time. I myself live in a big EU city where i see homeless ppl and drug addicts on daily basis but this is something else! It might be "good" location in terms of how close Acropollis and all the other sights are but it REALLY doesnt make up for the totally unsafe and depressing atmosphere you get while staying there! I would give it a 0 but one star is just because the staff was super super nice! They deserve a better...
Read moreRecently had the opportunity to stay at this hotel, and overall, my experience was fine. It may not have been a luxurious getaway, but it certainly delivered on the basics, especially considering the price. Accommodation: The room was clean and comfortable, and it provided all the essentials you'd expect from a 3-star hotel. While it wasn't overly spacious, it was well-maintained and had everything I needed for a short stay. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep, and the amenities were sufficient. Breakfast: The breakfast offered at the hotel was satisfactory. It wasn't a lavish spread, but it did the job. There were a variety of options to choose from, including cereal, pastries, and a selection of hot dishes. Value for Money: One of the standout aspects of this hotel is the value for money it offers. Given its 3-star rating, the price I paid for my stay was incredibly reasonable. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option that doesn't compromise on basic comforts, this hotel is a good choice. Safety and Location: While the hotel itself was fine, the surrounding area left something to be desired. Unfortunately, the neighborhood has a reputation for drug-related activity on the streets, which can be unsettling. The availability of cheap taxi services in the city made it relatively easy to get back to the hotel...
