Nikis 20 Suites — Hotel in Athens

A nightmare: BED BUGS, loud street and STILL NO REFUND!! STAY AWAY FROM NIKIS 20 SUITS! There is nothing positive to say about our stay. Aside from the noisy street and poorly sealing windows, we experienced the worst: we found BED BUGS and were bitten! Additionally, we discovered some kind of unknown white powder around the entire bed frame. DISGUSTING!

My partner left an objective Google review after finding the bugs. Since then, we have had numerous issues with the host, prompting me to write another review. After multiple attempts to contact the host and an official complaint through Booking.com, we have STILL NOT RECEIVED our REFUND. I was informed that the unidentifiable powder is not a poisonous insect repellent and supposedly safe. As a pregnant woman, I have to accept this statement for the sake of my unborn child and my own sanity. However, I still question how honest this host really is since we are currently held “hostage” by the renter over our Google review. She believes our review paints an unfair image and damages her business because she had the room professionally cleaned. We will only get a refund if we take the review down. This is CUSTOMER MANIPULATION. If I am only allowed to write glowing reviews in order to get a refund after being obviously wronged by a host, what is the point of reviews? This also deceives future guests who could be warned with honest feedback to make well-informed decisions.

I would like to point out that our case is not the first one this summer/fall. According to Booking.com reviews, Nikis 20 Suites has had at least 4 independent cases of bed bugs in recent weeks. If you believe the reviews, 3 (including my case) OUT OF 4 OF THOSE VICTIMS were ghosted by the host and DID NOT RECEIVE THEIR REFUND. This is a scam.

I believe the host when they say they got the room cleaned, but I have to ask how thorough that cleaning was. After all, there have been 4 victims of bed bugs one after another, yet the host continued renting despite knowing that the cleaning had failed multiple times. Additionally, the host tried to convince me that they haven’t had bed bugs in a long time. To that I have to say the following: 3 weeks without seeing any bugs is not a long time. After a few minutes of googling, I learned that bed bugs can survive 6 months without any food, and I know how expensive and difficult it is to get rid of them. Just because the cleaning lady did not see any bugs in a few weeks does not mean that they are all gone, as they hide everywhere (under the bed, in electrical outlets, behind pictures, etc.) and only come out at night when someone sleeps in the room. Only now, as the fourth victim, the host assured me they will replace the bed frame and mattress. I am sorry, but according to experts, this should have been the first measure to get rid of the bed bugs. In the end, I guess we were just another trial for the host to test whether the insects were truly gone. After all, vacant rooms...

I stayed here with my husband for five nights. As we entered the room, it was spacious and clean. Kitchen had the basic utensils if you want to cook or eat. No toaster. There was an electric iron. You cannot put tissue paper on the toilet bowl. The cleaner picks the trash every day but not clean the place. One day the cleaner was absent so we had to put out the trash ourselves. And we had to sweep and mop the room ourselves one time as the room could be dusty as we would go in and out few times in a day. We also experienced a brown out in the area so there was no electricity for about more than an hour that we had to stay outside because there was no key or extra key to open the room. Only a code system is used to get into the building and the room. But overall, we had a nice stay here and Greece has always been a lively place to visit with interesting history...

Very unprofessional. I had to request 3 times the details for the check in, and obtained it after 2h+ at 9pm with no apology (check in starts at 3pm). My companion and I had a lot of luggage, we were not going to wait indefinitely, so we booked another place, 3 stars hotel which was even cheaper than Nikis suites and was perfect.
