Sorry for the unpopular feedback, but I just finished 4 nights stay at the "Pame House" hotel and honestly I think that this hotel is highly overrated and is not 4 stars hotel. I would say that it is more of an upgraded hostel. |First a good thing - the staff is very friendly and service oriented! |Second – the location, in the center. Very close to a metro station, restaurants and bars (this can be a negative thing as well, I will give more details in a few lines...)|As to the room – we've booked the "junior Suite with Balcony " – positive - our room was lovely! Large, well – lightened including a small "kitchenette" , coffee machine, dishes - ,perfect for our needs. Negative - the sofa bed was uncomfortable to say the least, the metal bars and springs were significantly felt and got stuck in the ribs. It was a continuous agony to sleep on it. The situation got unbearable in our second night, when we updated the reception about it and demanded for a solution. The hotel solved it by putting on the sofa bed a couple of soft blankets. This some how helped and made it bearable sleeping in the following two nights.|Another thing – our room was on the 3rd floor turning to the street, even though the windows were soundproof, sleeping at night was very challenging due to the noise from the street. On weekdays things got quieter outside around 2AM and on weekends the loud noise was even until 5AM!! – The hotel staff didn't have any solution for us for this. I am not a person that a regular noise would bother him, but the noise from the street was out of this world... seriously!|The hotel does not serve breakfast, if you purchase breakfast you'll get a voucher to a bistro restaurant outside the hotel, a rather nice place - however the service there is VERY slow, this caused delays in our plans (as it was opened only at 08:30AM and a regular breakfast could last even an hour). When we updated the hotel staff about it, they offered us a voucher to another bistro near by, which was not that good (in my opinion).||Last thing - the reception is a small space located on the first floor, with no actual indoor waiting area and not a real storage room (if you arrive early or leave late and you need to store your luggage, please be aware it is NOT inside a room, but is just located near the receptionist).||To sum things up, would not stay here...
Read moreCharming Pame House suited us perfectly and was an excellent value. ||Their location is steps away from pretty much everything we needed. The Psyrri neighborhood is a wonderful mix of real life and entertainment/amenities. Walking to the mini market for snacks, we passed by old workshops, tavernas, cafes, contemporary boutiques, pharmacies, and a painting supply store. Great for getting the vibe of the city.||The room was described as "minimalist", but we found it quite comfortable and well-equipped: compact but functional bathroom & shower; ample space for two adults; even a kitchenette with a sink, mini fridge for leftovers, a bit of counter space, and a Nespresso. Plus the most adorable little cups and saucers to go with it! ||The double room had a teensy balcony, with a pair of chairs and a table just big enough for our espressos and phones, overlooking an equally tiny courtyard. There are bigger rooms as well, but the basic one was anything but basic in our experience. ||The front desk is staffed 24/7 with pleasant and helpful people.||The impressively tiny elevator didn't fit the two of us plus our luggage at the same time. In a way, though, it was less of an inconvenience and more of a funny quirk.||There is also a covered rooftop terrace with beautiful views of the city and the Acropolis. It had plenty of space and comfortable seating.||Breakfast is included but not on site; it was at a different boutique hotel just around the corner. ||The only drawbacks I can think of are in common with most hotels I've stayed in lately. Hotels simply don't seem to rotate their WiFi passcodes as often as I think they should. Of course, neither do my favorite coffee houses at home.||We loved our Pame House experience and can't...
Read moreThe hotel is a few minutes walk from Monastiraki square. Basically anything you’d like within Athens is an easy walk. Tons of shops and restaurants next to the hotel as well as at the Square. The Hop on Hop Off Buses run from the square. And there’s a metro station right there as well. It’s at the bottom of the acropolis. We bought the hop on hop off pass and barely used it because we could walk almost everywhere. Staff was amazing. We were able to check in early as our room was empty. They communicated with us via WhatsApp and even offered to bring us a crib when we forgot to request it. The bathtub on the terrace was wonderful after a day exploring the city. I hung some laundry to dry on the terrace and it fell and the staff immediately contacted me to confirm if the clothes were mine and that they were safely at reception whenever I was ready to pick up. The suites had a tea kettle and a nespresso maker and were restocked with tea and nespresso capsules daily. The rooftop lounge had a great view of the city. From the description of a bar and lounge I thought it was a restaurant but it was just the bar table for you to bring your own drinks. Breakfast was served at a restaurant across the street- vouchers were given to you at check in. There is also a little shop at reception with drinks and Hamam towels and such. Highly recommend Pame house and hop to...
