Nice boutique hotel in lively neighbourhood. Communication with hotel was good before arrival and during stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful on every occasion, helping us with room issues (no hot water on first night) and allowing for a late check out - they were both great. Seating area downstairs that we never used but looked very stylish. Rooftop terrace was excellent, almost 360o views across Athens taking in Lycabettus Hill, Pysiri, Monastiraki, Plaka round to the Acropolis and as far as the sea. We visited it frequently but never encountered any other guests so it was like having a private terrace. The room faced the mural and was beside the elevator - but we had no issue with noise at any time (may be different at the weekend). The jacuzzi was excellent. Room was very clean and lots of amenities - corkscrew, cups, glasses, fridge, coffee maker. Breakfast options were Zoubourlou, Frogs or Liosporous. We chose Zoubourlou and didn't try the others, as we were happy with our first choice. Breakfast was good - good quality food and great coffee. Had the breakfast basket, which had spinach pie, olives, tomatoes, cheese with plenty of bread and spreads.||Did not give 10/10 as the room decor was tired with stained cushions on the seating area and a cigarette burn - would warrant cleaning or upholstering. The floor had a bit of water damage near the jacuzzi and the metal holder in the bathroom was rusting. Just took the shine off what would have been a perfect hotel otherwise. Would have appreciated recognition of birthday celebrations. Old breakfast menu allowed for hot drink and orange juice but the and sign had been scribbled out and replaced with a slash, so you could only have one or the other and pay for any extras. Appeared to be the same scenario at the other breakfast options. Again just took the shine off the overall experience - should really replace the menus as looks a bit tacky. Would really expect a hot drink and juice to be included with...
Read moreWhat a quaint, little boutique hotel, just 4 mins away from monistariki metro station. This is a gem of a boutique hotel with only 10 rooms over 5 floors. Let’s start at reception, a lovely space with the warmest welcome from one of the two receptionist staff we met, katarina and Martha. If the owner of the hotel is reading this…. You could have the best building in the world but without staff like Kat and and Marsha it would mean so little, they are a priceless asset to the Melo and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. So we were in room 402 which had the spa Bath at the foot of the bed. Great room, lovely bathroom, plush amenities, strong wifi and exceeded all our expectations. There’s a lovely roof terrace at the top that has views over the little square and you can see the Acropolis at the side. Breakfast is at a restaurant about 10 steps from the hotel door with a great variety of choice. The location is so central we never caught any public transport whilst we were there. Everything was within a 15-30min walk including the acropolis, Syntagma square etc. Monastiraki itself is one of the coolest, hippest areas in Athens with loads of funky bars and restaurants all intertwined by the quaintest of lanes and walkways, very bohemian. A lot of the reviews talk about the noise in the evenings. Yes you can hear the music from the bars (mostly local live Greek bands) and it probably goes on until 1am on weekends and I think it’s was about 12ish on weekdays so be aware. Our room did have 3 windows facing the square and sound does travel but don’t let this put you off… it’s a great excuse to have more cocktails as a nightcap 😉 thank you Melo for a great stay and thanks again to Katarina and Marsha, well...
Read moreI stayed here for 4 nights and I was amazed by the incredible location and attentiveness from the hotel staff. The hotel is located in the heart of Athens and only a 15-20 mins walk from the Acropolis and main sites. It is on a busy strip of bars and restaurants and there is plenty going. The Acropolis can be seen from the roof top balcony or balcony depending on which way your balcony is facing. We had a fantastic time here the staff helped us with food recommendations and even called some restaurants to make reservations on our behalf. The rooms were spacious and kept very clean. We had a suite (2 bedrooms and one bathroom). Both bedrooms were lovely ,the jacuzzi was great and the tea and coffee machine and record player was a lovely touch. I cannot fault our stay the only thing I would be cautious of is that the floors are marble so in the bathroom it can get very slippery which was fine for us as we laid out towels but could be problematic for a young family. Also although it was not rowdy along the strip you can still hear some music until 1am (might be later in peak) again this did not bother us. Special thanks to Martha and the other young girl who helped us out over our stay sorry we did not...
