While the location was amazing and the room was nice, I felt compelled to write a review because of how wonderful Mario was! From the moment our family walked in, he was so polite, gracious, and genuinely happy to be there and help us make the most out of our stay. He must have taken at least 20 minutes to go through everything we might need to know and answer any questions we had. He helped us connect to WiFi, demonstrated how the hot water switch worked in our room, showed us the wonderful rooftop with Acropolis view that all guests have access to, pointed out the best paths to take to Monastiraki Square and the Acropolis (both very easy to walk to), and gave us dinner recommendations. The day before we left for our cruise, he helped us figure out the best time to leave for the port based on when we needed to be there and the expected traffic. He also arranged for a cab to meet us outside at that time so we didn't have to worry about anything - and it all worked out well!||There was also a sheet of paper in the room (I believe it was laminated) that went over a lot of the things Mario covered in case we weren't able to remember everything. We did run into Grace briefly as she was cleaning rooms, and she was also very sweet. I had picked this hotel primarily based on the location/price after doing some research, and my parents were so happy and impressed with the selection and had no complaints. While you're close to a lot of things here, you're still a bit removed from the action so it's a lot quieter than if you were right on the square. ||A couple of things to note: ||- Entrance can be a bit tricky to find; the door is on Astingos, but a taxi will drop you off on Ermou or right on the corner of the two streets. I went on Google street view ahead of time so I knew what the area would be like and what to look for; I highly recommend doing that. ||- This is a small handful of units (2 rooms on each floor) as opposed to a larger hotel, so there is not always someone at the front desk. Because of this, a code is required to get into the building, so if there is no one there when you arrive, you can't get in. In my initial booking, there was a section to put anything they might need to know or special requests and I didn't think to put anything about our travel schedule or arrival time...so they had no idea when we were arriving. It also didn't occur to me to let them know how late we'd be getting in closer to the date; I guess I just assumed they'd always have someone at the front desk and didn't realize how small of an operation it was. We got there in the evening and once I saw the setup and situation I realized that Mario had been waiting for us, which I felt terrible about (polite as ever, he told me it was fine and don't even think about it), but just something to be aware of - make sure to communicate your anticipated arrival time (and flight info if relevant) to make it easier for everyone and ensure someone is there to let you in and give you your room key and the main door code. ||- As I said, this is not a big hotel. We never saw other guests, though we did hear some briefly as they were returning to their room while our door was open. The lobby, staircase, and elevator are all quite small/narrow, so what you might expect in Europe. Our room, however, was a bit larger in comparison, and if you don't have the couch pulled out it's actually quite spacious. It's nothing fancy, but we were comfortable and had plenty of room to hang some clothes and store all our bags.||- Because this is such a small place, breakfast is not provided, though you can purchase a discounted breakfast at the restaurant on the corner below. There was a kitchenette in our room with a sink, coffee maker, and mini fridge, so we were able to get food at night while we were out and then store it for breakfast the next day. ||- The bathroom was a decent size, but the water pressure in the shower wasn't that great and the location of the window sill prevented the toilet lid from staying up easily on its own...a tad inconvenient when you needed to use the toilet. I'm guessing that was unique to our room, but I don't know for sure. Not a big deal by any means, but just something to...

I traveled 2 weeks between Italy and Greece and cay say this hotel was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
From the very first impression this was great, the manager actually got out on the street and probably noticed my confused face while trying to find the correct address, then quickly check us in, showed us the room, explained everything, made sure we were good. All staff is really sympathetic, have great english and readily available through WhatsApp communication.
The room we booked was ample and cozy with great decoration, I could see myself living there. There was a great bathroom, kitchenette with sink, cutlery, plate, cups, an empty frigobar but no oven or heatwave (why would anyone want to cook while in greece anyway)
Really central location in Monastiraki, you can walk to pretty much all major sites, there's also metro, bus, and restaurants nearby. Despite being in a busy location, soundproof was great, on one of the busier nights we could still hear the bustling sounds of drunk people but it was low and we could sleep no problem.
There's great views from room and rooftop is A+
Keep in mind this is somewhat of an apart-hotel, so there's no 24/7 reception, but this was not a problem for us at all as there's a code to unlock front door and we could do self checkout early in the morning no problem
As I liked this so much, I'm also taking the chance to add some suggestions, this by no means impacted our experience but would improve the experience for all guests and if I'm ever back to Athens, would love to see these:
In the rooftop entrance I think it's a good idea to add a warning sign and add more safety cushion to avoid tall peoplr from hitting their heads, this can be slightly dangerous, specially when it's dark already.
I honestly think the rooftop is underutilized, it had one of the best views of Acropolis (we went to a lot of high vantage points), maybe getting breakfast option up there and night drinks/snacks for guests, I understand the hotel is not so big and might be hard to maintain costs but this could be charged extra and scheduled ahead of time.
Adding anti-slippery rubber in the front door stairs, my wife fell in the stairs there one day, Mario the staff was really worried and asked multiple times if everything was ok but I noticed the steps are quite slippery so this could happen again.
Including an exaustion fan in the bathroom, I noticed in my room it was starting to form mold in the corner of the bathroom, the steam from the shower accumulates in there, fortunately I quickly noticed and figured it would be better to keep the two windows in the bathroom slightly open, but I can imagine not all guests do that, which would explain the mold.
Adding a sign in the street, not sure if there's any local law that would prohibite something like this but like I mentioned the hotel entrance is indeed a little hidden between all the restaurants in the street
Shower instructions, maybe I'm just poor, but wife called me desperate as she opened up the shower for the first time and it started to spill water with high pressure to the opposite wall (she thought it was changing...
Read moreAthens Version Luxury Suites more like Athens Version Hostel – A Complete Rip-Off. This place is a total scam, nothing “luxury” about it. Per their site, we booked a “superior room” at a “luxury hotel”. The room was so tiny you could barely move, our luggage took up what little floor space we had, and the bed felt like sleeping on a stack of plywood. The bathroom? A claustrophobic disaster—shower so small you had to reach outside to grab soap, spraying water all over the floor. Want hot water? Good luck flipping a sketchy circuit breaker switch in a panel and waiting twenty minutes for a measly one-hour supply. The AC was a joke, just a weak fan blowing warm air, and the curtains had holes, letting light pour in. Security? Non-existent. Our door was mysteriously unlocked twice while we were exploring the city, making us wonder if someone was sneaking in. Staff? Also non-existent. The receptionist(a tiny table underneath the spiral stair case)was never there, therefore no one to talk to, we only saw a cleaning lady as we were checking out. The only reason we got into the hotel was another guest opened the front door, gave us the code 2712 and then we had to text some random phone number we found in the lobby wall to even get into the room. Oh, and the cherry on top: the hotel’s twenty-five feet from a nightclub blasting bass until 2 AM, so don’t expect to sleep. This isn’t just a bad hotel; it’s a shady operation designed to fleece you. Save your money and avoid this dump at all costs.
Addressing the “owners” comments. There was no one working at the reception desk while we were there, no one to complain to. What good would it have done to complain? You’re not going to fix the AC or make the music stop, you’re not going to make a comfortable mattress magically appear. Nowhere in the booking did it mention an “economy” room. An “economy” room would have been an upgrade… We did not have an issue at any of the other hotels we stayed at throughout our vacation, just this one. Definitely did not get what I paid for… I hate to tell you, you’re down to a 4.6 and even that...
