I was for the first time there and it was perfect!! I love sea food so it was the perfect restaurant, the food was incredible, the service very good so i decided to go the day after again because it was my last day in Athens, unfortunately the experience was the opposite, since we arrived they were not that friendly and then when we ask for the bill it is when everything became really weird. The first day i ordered a dorado fish (12€ in the menu), a cola (2,50€) and a beer (4€) for a total of 18,50€. The food and the service was so good that i gave also a good tip but the day after my bill came and it was 16€ for the dorado fish (that in the menu is 12€) and 4€ for a beer that was for a total of 20€ (more expensive that the day before for the same but without the cola). I asked the waiter why it was 16€ for the fish when in the menu says 12€ and he said very aggressive that it was a big one, first of all his attitude was very wrong, second of all i said that i ate there the same fish the day before and it was the same size. He went without saying a word and 5 min later came another waiter with the bill for the price that is in the menu but he was very aggressive also and basically yelling at me just pay because we already put it for 12€ price in the bill, when we paid he literally throw the receipt at the table and left without saying a word!!! The all situation was so uncomfortable!!! I was so happy with the first experience there that i went there to eat again in my last day in Athens because it was really so good but the all situation ruined the food for me! I dont know if it is just that two waiters or in generall but it should not be like that. I can understand about sizes and prices but first of all it should be specified in the menu that is about the size of the fish and not a fixed price and second they should not treat you like that when you asked a normal question about why the price in the bill ist diferent as in the menu. They where aggressive with me and treated me like i did something wrong when i was just asking about why it was a big difference price in the same fish and same size that i ate a day before. I am posting the pictures of the fish in the both days so you can see its no difference. Really disappointing! Never experienced something like that and they where really so aggressive and making me feeling as i did something wrong when i was just asking why the price was not like in the menu and the day before. I dont usually complain like this in public but it was really a bad experience and i hope that with this dont happen to another person. After saying all that, have to say again that the food was...
Read moreService and Hospitality: Upon arrival, we encountered delays in being seated despite the visible availability of several tables. This initial inconvenience was compounded by an extended wait for beverages. Communication with the staff proved challenging; their proficiency in English was limited, leading to misunderstandings over our order. Regrettably, when these errors were brought to their attention, the response was dismissive, lacking in both concern for customer satisfaction and attempts to rectify the situation.
Management Presence: The individual who appeared to be in a managerial or ownership role exhibited behavior that I found unprofessional. His approach to attracting patrons—actively soliciting passersby from the street—coupled with his unkempt appearance (notably, long, untidy hair that would likely be deemed unacceptable in many dining environments) left a negative impression on us.
Food Quality: The culinary offerings fell short of expectations. Dishes were excessively laden with low-grade oil, compromising both the taste and digestibility. While I understand the price point is aimed at affordability, the compromise on ingredient quality and cooking methods was too significant to overlook.
Cleanliness and Facilities: The condition of the premises, especially the single restroom, was below acceptable standards. The lack of a functional lock and overall unhygienic state was concerning and detracted further from the dining experience.
Pricing: It's clear that the restaurant positions itself as an affordable dining option, which is reflected in the pricing. However, the correlation between cost and quality seemed too pronounced, suggesting that value for money, in terms of food quality and dining experience, was lacking.
Suggestions for Improvement:
Enhancing staff training in customer service and language skills could greatly improve communication and service quality. Attention to personal and environmental cleanliness would positively impact the dining atmosphere. Revisiting the menu to focus on quality ingredients and preparation methods might offer a more balanced and enjoyable dining experience, even if this necessitates a slight increase in prices. In conclusion, while I appreciate the intent to provide an affordable dining option, the compromise on service, hygiene, and food quality was too significant to overlook. I hope this feedback is received as constructive criticism, with the potential for substantial improvements...
Read moreEnjoyable fresh seafood in an interesting, mostly street setting. Super nice smiling servers who work hard to please. Attractive price. Started with a plate of mashed fava beans (delicious in their plainness) and fried peppers (tasty, not spicy, and well cooked to the point of near mushiness). I liked that they don’t force a plate of bread on you. Loved our fried seafood combo of sardines, little whole shrimp, and little squid which were dusted with flour and seasoning/salt — nice combo and great with beer, the squid were especially perfect and tender. The seafood pasta was good, nearly sauceless, again squid so very good, but the mussels were a real miss, just not good mussels and then overcooked a little plus to my wife’s horror and aghast etc., a tiny bit of the “beard” of several of the mussels was not trimmed out, I ate that and can confirm I’ve never had mussels with the top of the beard not trimmed off because it was literally hard to swallow and not nice! Ooops. Alas there were only like 4 mussels on the pasta and I am still alive so other than not being good mussels, I am not too concerned. But yeah probably I have eaten mussels like 500 times, and these were like number 498th worse. Just a bad batch I presume, or maybe the gnarly ones are relegated to the seafood pasta? We finished with the whole grilled Dorado which was fresh and well prepared, so enjoyable and yummy. My only unhappiness with this place is that there are few tables inside, normally great by me however their portable tables places everywhere on the street were tiny and had legs designed to maximize discomfort, my large feet were impossibly intertwined in said legs so I had to sit side saddle with my feet hanging down over a sidewalk curb. Table was not at all level and too small (see photos) to hold the food, so not comfortable. Possibly great if you are under 40 years old, not great for semi-large old guys. Oh we also had the rose lady from Istanbul who we smilingly turned away instantly, a kind waiter explained to her at length these people ain’t buying no roses from ya, so scram already. Anyways all good and we’re happy we came here and loved all but the 4 mussels and portable TV...
