When we arrived, I had a problem with my new rental car, and, without me asking, within seconds, the owner and his college-age son were standing next to the car. |With their assistance, my error was quickly corrected and problem solved. On the morning of our second day, my wife left her travel purse in the backseat of a transfer vehicle, but the error was not discovered until 6:00 pm that evening when we returned to the hotel. It was an essential item that we must have before our departure the next morning. The owner and his son, Tom, made our problem their problem. They called the transfer service, the purse was located, and Tom was at our door within the hour delivering it to my wife. She thanked him profusely, and he just humbly replied "No problem, it's what we do." These are just two examples of this family-owned hotel's dedication to providing their guests the very best stay possible. ||Additionally, this a beautiful hotel with large squeaky-clean rooms situated above a crowd of lesser hotels bunched in the village below, and the advantage of this prime location provides the hotel's rooms and balconies with unrivaled views of the surrounding rock formations. We have traveled the world for over 50 years, and highly recommend the Junior Suite with Panoramic View. It costs a little more, but is well worth it. Each day began with our balcony view of the rock formations directly behind our room, followed by a plentiful breakfast buffet located in a comfortable cozy nook that encourages the guests to interact and get to know one another. Although it sits above the rest of the village, it is only a 5-minutes walk down from the hotel to several excellent restaurants for dinner. As this review suggests, we found the Pyrgos Adrachti to be a great base from which to make the most of our experiences in Kastraki and the...
Read morePyrgos Adrachti Hotel the hidden gem of Kastraki. This purpose built hotel is beautiful with spacious rooms and comfortable guest areas. The free breakfast is a delightful way to start the day. The location provides magnificent views of The Rock Holy Spirit and other towering pillars the area is famous for. The location provides easy access to the loop road that includes access to monasteries and spectacular viewpoints. The hotel is family run and the proprietor was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area providing a map, monastery hours and viewing suggestions. Try the trail next to the hotel if fit. There are several cafes and restaurants close to the hotel. If adventurous include the Eagle Nest restaurant located high above the valley while driving the...
Read moreWe had some difficulty finding the hotel in the dark - do keep a tight eye on the signs leading to the place. It was uphill and there was parking in front of the building. Great views of Meteora and convenient to grab a bite in one of the tavernas in the heart of the village of Kastraki. The owner was very friendly and made us recommendations and offered us breakfast (thank you for the coffee). The room was quite spacious with a big bed in it, though the shower was a little slippery and oddly organised. Kastraki is great for hiking in Meteora, if a bit too rustic for me. I prefer to be in Kalambaka as I’m more of a “city” person and like to have more restaurant etc choices in...
