Ionian Sun — Hotel in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

Ionian Sun is an exceptional villa. We spent 5 nights there at the end of August 2020 having booked it in early July, following the relaxation of UK travel restrictions. We did hesitate initially when booking the villa simply because it had no reviews. We are frequent users of Airbnb and know that the safest option is always to opt for the properties with the greatest number of positive reviews. However, please do not be put off by the lack of reviews. There is a simple reason for this. The property has only been available for renting since Jan 2020 and given that the whole of Europe has been in various degrees of lockdown for most of this year, it’s no wonder few, if any, people have stayed here.

The villa has been finished to a very high standard. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with every appliance and utensil you could possibly need. The bathrooms and all the furnishings are of a very high quality and it actually feels like a home. The villa was also spotlessly clean. The outside space is wonderful with views over Paleokastritsa. There is even an outside kitchen should you wish to cook over coals. We found the villa very spacious for a family of four (two teenage children). It was exactly what we needed after a hectic week or so of travelling around Italy. The villa, in itself, was enough to warrant a 5 star review, but there were so many additional thoughtful touches that made this place so wonderful. We arrived on a very hot afternoon, a bit frazzled from a day of travelling, with instant thoughts of having to find a supermarket to get ourselves fed. We were overjoyed to find a fridge containing essential items and Greek treats and a number of store cupboard staples. In no time, we were eating al fresco in the lovely outdoor dining area, the stresses of the day gone. There were lots of little bonuses like this, that we weren’t expecting. Towards the end of our stay a gift of some beautifully presented herbal teas also arrived. It’s these sorts of things that makes Ionian Sun a stand-out place to stay.

Our host, Beatrice, was fantastic throughout, from the initial booking of our stay, the duration of a stay and our departure. We never actually met her as the property, on arrival, is accessed with a key safe code. However, Beatrice responded to emails very quickly and was very professional. We even manged to lock ourselves out of the villa and she quickly arranged for another key to be dropped off.

Paleo is a lovely part of Corfu, and the villa is ideally located to access a number of beaches as well as a host of restaurants and cafes. It’s about a 10-15 minute stroll to the nearest beach. It is all uphill back to the villa, but nothing too arduous. There are a couple of supermarkets nearby. Kathy’s Supermarket is well stocked and about a 10 minute walk away. If you are wanting to explore Corfu, you will need to hire a car. However, as our goal was to just relax and do pretty much nothing, we were content with staying around Paleo, hiring a boat and exploring the nearby coves and secluded beaches and simply lounging around the villa. Amazing Villa! The location is perfect and only a short walk from a beach and easy access to several walking trails. The views are spectacular and uninterrupted. The amenities in the Villa are first class and you have everything that you need for a perfect holiday of peace and relaxation. Οι διακοπές στην Κέρκυρα ήταν απλά υπέροχες!!!

Μείναμε σε ένα πανέμορφο σπίτι με πισίνα στην Παλαιοκαστρίτσα, στην πιο όμορφη περιοχή της Κέρκυρας. Το σπίτι παρείχε όλες τις ανέσεις και είχε υπέροχη διακόσμηση. Η ιδιοκτήτρια πρόθυμη να μας λύσει κάθε απορία και να εξασφαλίσει ότι θα απολαύσουμε τις διακοπές μας. Έχει καταπληκτική θέα και σε πολύ κοντινή απόσταση από την κεντρική παραλία, τα εστιατόρια και τα καταστήματα της Παλαιοκαστρίτσας. Δεν έχω δει πιο καθαρό διαμέρισμα όσα χρόνια επιλέγουμε διαμερίσματα για τις διακοπές μας.

Εννοείται ότι το συστήνουμε ανεπιφύλακτα και σύντομα θα ξανάρθουμε γιατί 5 ημέρες δεν έφτασαν. 🥹
