Spent a week here with my family and it was absolutely brilliant. The hotel has a very chilled atmosphere, has everything you need, and the staff are courteous, friendly and helpful.
Our room was a family room on the ground floor, with two seperate bedrooms and a sofa bed if needed. There are TVs in every room with channels in many different languages. It was made up every day by the wonderful cleaning staff, who gave us fresh towels and also restocked our fridge with bottled water every morning. Our room had a balcony overlooking the side street that the hotel main entrance is on. It looks like many of the other rooms look out over the neighbouring dual carriageway, which is very busy with traffic, so I reckon that could be a down side for some guests, but wouldn't detract from the overall experience.
The pool area is perfect. It's small, but very chilled out, surrounded by sunbeds and chairs, and with outdoor showers and toilets right there. They are also overseen by a lifeguard/attendant during the pool opening times of 10-6. Perfect for adults and kids alike. There is also a small gym with light weights, two weight machines, a bike, a treadmill, and a cross trainer.
The bar is great and very well tended by the bar staff. They have local wine and draft Mythos, as well as a huge array of liquers. Great food too.
Location-wise it's perfect. The X96 bus to and from the airport stops right outside the hotel and runs every 30-40 minutes, 24 hours a day. Turn left out of the hotel and the marina and a small beach are at the end of the street, along with a tram stop. There's a lovely, new promenade which goes along the coastline adjacent to the tram line which is perfect for evening walks. There is also a sea turtle rescue centre nearby, which offers free tours and is a must-visit if you're staying here.
The beaches themselves are good if rudimentary. They are free, with permanent umbrellas, but little infrastructure like shops or toilets. The sand is pebbly. Glyfada Beach, about a 10-15 minute walk away, is probably the best of the bunch - gorgeous warm, deep and blue water. For a slightly better beach experience, Vougliameni Beach is a short bus ride away (117 or 122). It's a shingle beach that costs €10 per adult and €5 euros per child, and for that you get umbrellas, sunbeds, and changing and toilet facilities nearby.
Glyfada town centre is a 5-10 minute walk away. There are lots of trendy, high-end shops and bars down the main boulevard. Plenty of restaurants dotted about, most of which serve traditional Greek cuisine like gyros, souvlaki and salads. Along the marinas there are a couple of seafood restaurants, which are wonderful.
I heartily recommend this hotel. Huge thanks to the staff for making our stay so...
Read moreWe were moved to Palmyra Beach Hotel as the swimming pool was closed.
There were bed bugs in the room. We had a very bad experience all 4 nights. We did see blood stains on previous nights and got the bed sheets changed. But we did not see them until the last night when we had to get up early in the morning. Bed bugs stay in the room for long time and they come at night and suck blood.
We were sleeping with my 3 year old son.
The hotel refused to refund us for the 4 nights.
I am requesting you to please avoid the hotel and take care.
Response:
I had repeated conversation and I had to call Booking.com repeatedly and raise concerns. Initially the hotel refused refund. Then I also shared the pictures and the hotel came back saying we will give back 20% refund.
Only when I posted this review the hotel reached out to me. So don't be a hypocrite saying you care.
I am also attaching pictures of the bed bugs bites on my 3 year old son. He is in distress and keeps scratching them. We had similar bite marks and keep scratching.
We had to do away with our clothes and suitcases. We are in constant fear at night if one of the bed bugs have hitched a ride home.
The mental distress and the pain you have caused us need a compensation. All you have done is refund me my money. I really need you to care with monetary compensation so that this is...
Read moreWe booked a 1 week half-board stay at the family room. CONS: Bottled water only provided on the 1st day of our stay. Note that half-board dinner package does not include drinks of any form and this is not clearly stated in the bookings. Upon checking it (late evening) some of the lights in the living room area and bedrooms were not working which made it difficult for us to move around with 2 young children. Made the complaint and the issue was fixed the next day. From Day 2 to Day 7, the air conditioning in the bedroom was not working. We told the reception of this issue many times but it was not fixed althrough our stay. There was no heating nor air conditioning at all which made the room really stuffy in the nights. We had to keep the windows and doors to the balcony open in order to get some sleep at night. The view from the balcony was absurd. It's facing the main road and there was a big dumpster directly below the room. Not a pleasant view given the price paid for the family room and the star rating claimed by the hotel. PROS: Less than 1 min walk to the Tram station, takes about 50 mins to get to the town center (Acropolis). Walking distance to the beach, best place to view breathtaking sunset. Located strategically at Glyfada shopping district with many good patisseries, restaurants and...
