So I stayed in this hotel many many times before. And it was always very nice and friendly. Almost like a family environment. Turns out, it only lasts as long as the duration of your stay. This year I am in Hydra but I’m staying in a different hotel because I’m travelling with my dog for the first time ever and the Leto does not allow dogs. Which is fine. Not a problem for me. I went back there just to say hello but it was all new staff at the reception. When I arrived I explained the receptionist that I’m in Hydra but I’m staying somewhere else because of the dog etc. they told me they don’t allow dogs and I said that’s fine. So I said can I meet the manager just to say hello because I stayed here many many times the previous years. Some months I stayed like every single weekend and they knew me and I wanted to say hello. She called the manager. I opened my arms saying, “oh hello, so nice to see you!” She didn’t even look at me, she just was talking to me in greek, a long monologue, and I kept on saying I don’t speak greek, English please. She ignored it first snd just continued in greek… She knew who I was, she knows I don’t speak greek, then she just looked at me and said, “Sorry. No dogs. We had problem last year” then she walked off. I felt really humiliated. I never went to this hotel with my dog before. I didn’t want yo stay there with my dog. All I wanted was to say hello to a familiar face. But it looks like, they are only nice to you as long as you’re staying and actively paying. It’s not genuine at all. I’m never going to stay in this...
Read moreThe hotel was beautiful however we were very disappointed with the services. Firstly, there was another guest who was shouting and talking very loudly in all the common areas (and it was a very quite hotel), she was the only person who could be heard and the staff said nothing to show respect to the other guests, rather they would accommodate her in all her wants.
Secondly the breakfast looked as if it was made the previous days and didn’t taste fresh at all. The pancakes especially which is a food not all hotels have and which many guests are keen on eating. I tried it for two consecutive days and they were hard and not chewable, you know they were not fresh.
The rooms were nice appearance-wise, they provide two magnetic chargers which don’t work well but if you want to charge your phone next to your bed they don’t have accessible plugs we had to charge our phones either on the desk or unplug the coffee machine or charge in the bathroom which is quite inconvenient nowadays.
We booked a spa, they didn’t even provide us with a robe and we paid almost 200€ for two people just for a massage.
The location was very convenient.
These comments might sound very picky but if you want to be called a 5-star hotel you do look at...
Read moreIt was not just an accommodation, it was an experience; a magic, unique experience. Being there, you receive a taste of authentic, discreet, Greek, high-level hospitality even from the first moment entering the hotel. The whole atmosphere of Hydra is uniquely depicted in this building and its people. If I had to choose only one word for this quietly luxurious ambient, this would have been “respectful hospitality”. People are always around being invisible at the same time. The girls at the reception, Antonia, Georgia, Ioanna, well-behaved with an excellent attitude; Mrs. Jenny Sofianos, the owner, a sophisticated, elegant lady exceptionally taking care of any detail. Mrs. Anna, the most wonderful breakfast lady I ‘ve ever met, with a warm smile and delicious high-quality buffet. A group of very special people in front of and, I am sure, also behind the scene, that are constantly focusing on their clients, their guests. And believe me, it is not the money that we all of us pay for; it is the depth of a gentle behavior we receive back; and this is not self-evident each time we have vacations in a 5-star...
