We visited this gem in July 2023 during the heat wave. Even though it was hot outside the inside was cool. The mansion used to be the home of Pavlos Kountouriotis, the legendary admiral and politician, with many victories in his record. The mansion is situated on a pine tree filled hill overlooking the Hydra harbour on one side and Peloponnesus on the other. The admiral's grave and monument is on the side of the hill below it. It is free to visit, for now. Both carers were helpful and friendly. We had the best possible tour by Demetres, a man who obviously loves his job. Only the ground floor is open for visits and hopefully the others will open in the future. The rooms have relics and wardrobes from the period along with personal effects of the admiral and his family.
