I had one of the most magnificent culinary experiences in this restaurant and one of the worst, unfortunately. My first visit was with a friend on a late afternoon hour last week. I had the sea bass prepared with artichoke puré. It was fantastic. I enjoyed it so much, that I decided to have my breakfast there the very next morning. And I did. I was there the following day, on my own. I selected from the menu the Benedict eggs dish. To my surprise, the waitress (very friendly and always with a smile) tells me that the Hollandaise sauce will take some time to prepare, and because I'm on my own?!?!, I might get bored waiting. I was somehow shocked. I said OK... and I requested the scrambled eggs. While I was waiting for my breakfast, I recognized a dish of Benedict eggs in the hands of the waitress, heading to a nearby table. Apparently the problem was, that because I'm on my own, the table I used, will not bring the revenue anticipated?! There were more tables available really. I can't know the exact reason behind this, and I'm sure this is the management 's policy, but it is absolutely preposterous. And shameful! It is not your business whether I'm bored or not while waiting. I have my phone with me. I can even read my Ebook or watch a video while waiting. I did not enter a circus for you to feel the need to amuse me. I entered a restaurant in order to get my breakfast. My money. My choice.
I'm sorry, but the management needs to be made aware of a few things. Your price tags, define your target audience. I was one of those who did not mind to pay for an overpriced dish, provided it would make for an amazing experience. Your behavior however, ruined everything. The customer selects where to spend their money on and not the other way around....
Read moreI've had to start using my feet now to count my trips to Hydra(Ydra), so I may be the next best thing to a permanent resident when I tell you that PlakoStroto is a must if you are spending anytime there. I admit there is plenty of great food on the Island, BUT this place has the welcoming staff, food, the atmosphere AND the best cocktails. The staff speaks English and welcomes each and every customer, often times it is one of the owners (Niko or Vangelis) that greats you with a big smile. We ate there several times and we always stopped in after a day at one of the beaches for Mojitos. You see, Niko and Vangelis were 'professional bartenders' and have been around kitchens and customers for a long time. When you walk up the steps into the restaurant, it is as if you leave concrete and step into a tropical oasis, greenery above and all around. The sound of a waterfall, whisper quiet fans making the greenery dance and keeping you cool, Oranges hanging from trees(timing) and seating rivaling any backyard oasis. I've had cocktails 'this trip' at - a high rated Italian restaurant, a very nice restaurant with a magnificent sunset(they used to bar tend there) and at a swanky place on the way to Kamini that starts with a 'T' and a resort in Vlychos and I'm here to tell you that their cocktails blow the others away. Even if you can't make it for dinner, get there for a light lunch and/or a cocktail and ask to 'See the Hat', they say it...
Read moreOn a day trip to Hydra, we stopped here and it was the best decision we could have made. The ambiance was relaxing, the service was fantastic and the food was delicious. The Risotto was much different than I expected; it was hearty yet so fresh with a light taste of spearmint. The wine selection was expansive. I tried the Boutari Rose which has now become my favorite Rose. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was amazing. I went in May 2019 and over a year later I still think about how fantastic this lunch was. Next time I’m in Greece, I will most definitely be making a trip to Hydra and return to this restaurant. Bravo to the owner, manager, chef and everyone else who takes part in providing such a great...
