I was the only person in the museum this late afternoon and a blonde lady, an employee of the museum, followed me around into every room and every floor I went on, talking on the phone. I would’ve enjoyed the peace and quiet to go through the exhibit at my own pace, but she seemed to want me to move faster. I took a step into the museum shop and saw her appear again. I asked if she wanted to ask me anything, like maybe she was trying to get my attention, but she said no. Then when I was about to leave, she stood obviously waiting for me and opened the doors. Felt like she was purposely trying to get me out. Not sure why she was doing this, maybe because the signs say no photography? I very obviously had my phone away too so really confused. I get that museum employees have to keep an eye, but they shouldn’t follow someone so closely like she could’ve seen me easily at the entrance of all the exhibits since the rooms are wide and open. The exhibit itself is just some war artifices and a single case of ancient pottery. Lots of niche stuff, no real broad explanations or anything about Greek history so like a previous review said, if youre not an expert, may not get a lot. I’m not sure if it’s worth a visit, very unpleasant experience and frankly a waste of my money. The whole time I was just very acutely aware I was being followed and her phone convos were distracting since it was so quiet. I like the background hum and chatter of a busier museum, but in the silence, she was too disruptive. Museum folk, please talk to your employee about proper etiquette. Keep an eye from a distance, don’t follow steps behind and run into visitors disturbing...

Surprisingly large for how the building looks from outside. Mainly naval artifacts (maps, uniforms, swords & guns, model ships, naval tools, etc.) but also more modern art than expected (has at least two beautiful rooms for rotating exhibitions). This provides a nice balance and breaks up the works. Lots of different informative placards and labeling so it’s easy to do your own self guided tour. You’d enjoy a...

We had an excellent tour at the museum of Hydra. An amazing tour operator Mr Takis made our visit, a visit to remember. He was a real performer and with his passion and knowledge he was guiding us through the history of the Greek revolution and the battle of the people of Hydra against the Ottomans. A great museum with a nice layout, well designed lighting and air conditioning that everyone needs to visit.
