We were well aware that Nitsa Rooms was not going to be on par with The Ritz when we booked it, but we were not expecting a room that needed gutting. The whole room was old, broken and filthy. All of the furniture was laminated chipboard, that was chipped and splitting. Feet black after walking around shoeless. Sink/table had not been cleaned in months or even years. Fridge filthy on inside with several years of accumulated dust on rear, which was very hot and roared like a motorbike every 20 minutes. Beds totally uncomfortable, causing dreadful backache. Air conditioning unit very dirty and causing flood on balcony. Bathroom, well where do I start?? All filthy, mouldy, smelly. Never cleaned the whole time we were there. Amazed we didn’t catch anything. Towels threadbare that ripped when used. Balcony doors wouldn’t close or, obviously lock. All defects potentially dangerous to health. Even though we had taken the trouble to write to Nitsa Rooms prior to our stay, requesting sea view, we were given a view of the sea if stood on a chair on the corner of the dirty balcony. ||At the end of our first week, the owner informed us that we would need to move from our room for our last 4 days, as she needed it for someone else, but would put us in a room upstairs that had a better sea view. The day before the move, we asked her when she wanted us to move, to be told that we would have to move to another room, even more inferior, at the back! When we told her that we were not happy with that, as we were suffering enough compromises as it was, she offered no incentives and said we were being unreasonable as it was only for few nights!!! ||So angry with the whole experience. We work hard, so our holidays are precious, we don’t need to waste our days in, what is barely more, than a prison! We spent our last 4 days, obviously at further expense, at a beautiful, beachside hotel in Turkey. Only regret, is that we didn’t do it sooner! ||Don’t book Nitsa Rooms and put yourselves through...
Read moreNitsa rooms is located very next to the beach and in a good position for supermarkets, fast foods, and the harbour. First of all the owners were very kind, Kostas, Nitsa's son, suggested us (we were a group of thirteen guys) all the attraction, restaurants, things to do, supermarkets, etc. And it has been very useful: we didn't waste so much time or money in tourist traps, as we didn't know anything about the island, but we tried the typical and local food. The price for the rooms was very cheap and the rooms were good: there are two building, one a little newer than the other one but the difference between them is almost nothing, the older rooms are a little smaller. I was in the newer one, the room was big with a little balcony, the bathroom was decent. The kitchen was good, there was everything but we used only the fridge because Greek fast foods, restaurants or bakeries were very cheap so we had only breakfast at home. It was clean enough, and the cleaning lady came only if you were not inside in order not to bother your sleep. They gave us a hairdryer and one towel for each one and of course bed sheets and blankets. In the balcony there was a drying rack. The air conditioning worked very well, it had every mode. At the end of the journey Nitsa gave us the possibility to leave our luggage in the hall until the evening after leaving there room at an arranged time. My friends and I were very happy to choose...
Read moreI stayed 4 nights at Nitsa Rooms on a cheap deal; I wasn't expecting much for the money but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are spacious, most with sea facing balconies, they have en-suite toilet/showers (variable water temp) and are clean with sturdy beds, table and chairs and basic cooking equipment, kettle and fridge. Mrs Nitsa is helpful and approachable for any needs. The building is on Averof Street, which is quite a busy one-way, about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Kos Town. But in this area there are seaside bars, restaurants, a 24/7 small supermarket, a chemist and an ATM machine along the beach-front, which is just across the road. Taxis are there in 2 minutes if needed. I was volunteering with a local group, working odd hours, but it was no problem to come in or go out day or night and not too noisy for day-sleeping. It also has reliable in-room wifi. Although Nitsa Rooms is a little further from the Port centre, I would recommend it to other volunteers or anyone looking for reasonably priced basic self-catering...
