Erato Hotel Mykonos — Hotel in Municipality of Mykonos

I’ve just returned from a 4 night break at this absolutely beautiful hotel, yards from Ornos beach. The attention to detail around the hotel is second to none - the beautiful sitting areas with cobalt blue cushions to match the shutters, the sea and the sky and the painted cobbles throughout. Flowers everywhere - a stunning garden looking out over the sea with a hanging basket chair to swing in and take in the view. ||We had a huge family room with living room and kitchen - perfect for chilling your own wine and playing cards on the balcony, watching the sailing boats bobbing on the water. A big bathroom with two basins and a super shower. The rooms were spotless and refreshed daily. ||Breakfast was fantastic - the most delicious Greek yogurt with soured cherries, pastries (the mille-feuille with cream custard was fantastic), the freshest bread, eggs, delicious tomatoes - so much to choose from and keep you going until a late lunch! ||The absolute star of this hotel is Maria, the owner. Intelligent, incisive and elegant and always on call, it seems - I don’t think she sleeps! Before we arrived, Maria was brilliant at answering my various annoying questions and on arrival, she was always on hand to provide recommendations for everything, based on budget and her immediate insight into what would make you happy, which she picks up when you have your welcome meeting. I think she may be telepathic! Maria’s family have lived in the area for generations and her knowledge is incredible - right down to the perfect beach depending on the slightest change in wind direction. We followed Maria’s recommendations to the letter and they were absolute perfect - we saw so much of the island and the views and beaches were stunning. ||The hotel has such a lovely, warm atmosphere, all the staff are wonderful, with genuine care and you can tell it has been built with love and personal dedication. This absolutely beautiful hotel and the staff deserve more than 5/5 stars! We booked this for our honeymoon. From the moment we first walked into the hotel, until even after we departed, Maria and Alexandra were amazing and went above and beyond. These lovely women gave us information regarding the location of the hotel, in addition to recommendations of excursions. They were so helpful with ensuring we had transportation to and from the hotel for all activities. My husband and I got unexpectedly sick right before departure and these amazing people accommodated and made arrangements for us. The most caring and genuine people I have ever had the privilege of meeting! In addition to the exceptional hospitality, the hotel is so beautiful, along with its location. There is so much to do and many places to eat near by. Mykonos town is a cheap bus trip away. Mykonos offers adventures with plentiful excursions while it also offers relaxation with its beautiful beaches. There is something for everybody! Staff made booking these excursions so simple! This hotel is a gem in Mykonos. It is connected right to the beach in Ornos and has a relaxing patio area that is like the garden of Eden. From the moment you arrive and are greeted with an amazing drink as you fill out the paperwork you can see how special this place is. ||But that is not even the most special part of this gem. It is the people. The owner Maria is an amazing and caring person. When you go, listen to what she tells you and you will have an amazing time. If she tells you a place is going to have great food you will not be disappointed. She also will give you insight into how to save money renting chairs and umbrellas on the beach. And if are looking to do something that is probably not a good idea she will tell you to help you learn from other’s mistakes. ||Her staff, especially Natalia, are wonderful people. They are such hard workers and go out of their way to take care of your needs while you’re staying there. ||When we were on our vacation a family member needed a doctor. Maria got in contact with a doctor and got them to squeeze us in the same day and she arranged a taxi ride for us which saved our vacation. Thank you Maria for such a wonderful experience.
