Mykonos Earth Suites is a beautiful hotel staffed by very friendly people that doesn’t execute well, especially at its price point. To start: the pictures they have on their site are straight up misleading regarding their Honeymoon suite. We arrived to a room that looked nothing like the honeymoon suite on their website and ended up being (according to their own website) almost 10 sq meters smaller than the other suite, complete with a smaller pool to boot. I presented this to the staff and, while I understand there wasn’t much to be done about it at that point, insisting the rooms are exactly the same was straight up false and the pictures on the website are misleading.
Fundamental hotel items like Do Not Disturb door tags aren’t available (had housekeeping enter my room while we were in the pool even though the door was locked) and bizarre practices from staff like calling late at night to ask if a repair technician could enter our room or the bar staff calling at 10:30PM while we were asleep to request a room service tray back made my wife and I honestly pretty uneasy about spending time in the room at all. Housekeeping would replace some things but not others (pool towels were never replaced, just folded and shower gels were never replaced).
The rooms are absolutely NOT private. The back pool deck areas have excellent visibility to each other and share a 3 foot high wall. The rooms have little to no sound insulation either, and I frequently heard conversations from the hallway and from the rooms next to us with no issue. I experienced better noise isolation on the beach at a Platys Gialos hotel for half the cost.
Their pool cleaning hours and schedule are explained when you check in, but their pool cleaner never arrived at the hours listed on the side of the pool and would often arrive an hour or two after their cleaning window, at which time we’d given up waiting for him to show up and got in the pool. Looking at the plants around the pool area, it seemed incredibly strange to have plants that spray their petals around in the wind directly next to the pools necessitating such frequent cleanings.
The food here was excellent and the breakfast was especially delicious, but the bar staff was pretty woeful at making drinks in general which made using the bar a non starter for us. Mojito featuring muddled mint, a dirty martini made with a shot of vodka and an olive in it. Just strange execution again for a place that charges this much.
Make sure you ask about the back route into town that is much easier, and Spiros is immensely helpful and a great ambassador for Mykonos and the hotel.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend a stay here. It promises privacy and a relaxing experience that we didn’t experience either of. It seems like as a hotel they purchased just one of everything for each room so there is too much of a reliance on constant calls to the room service team to collect and drop trays and ice buckets to ever really relax and feel as luxurious as the hotel looks. After reading the reviews on this page I couldn’t tell if we just had an off week with their staff, but there were just too many glaring errors in our stay that made the value for money far too low to...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed in the Mykonos Earth Suites for a portion of our honeymoon in July and we don’t have enough good things to say about this place!
To start, the staff were incredibly kind, helpful and welcoming. When we first arrived in Mykonos they offered their driver to pick us up from the port. He was so sweet as well as he explained the different parts of the island to us as we drove through it. When we arrived at the suites, we were greeted with a delicious welcome drink and the hotel concierge toured us around the common areas as well as our private room. We booked the room with the heated tub as opposed to a plunge pool, which we were nervous about at first thinking the weather would be too hot in July for a tub, but because Mykonos is SO windy, we were actually thrilled to have the heated tub for chilly, windy night times. (I would also recommend the room with the heated tub over the rooms with plunge pools as this room has the most privacy! It is the room at the highest point and actually overlooks the suites with the plunge pools)
On to the room... it is SPECTACULAR. It is so well designed and decorated, we've never felt so "boujee" in our lives lol. The modern Greek design is incredible and the views are just something else. We’ve never seen sunsets so perfect!
Breakfast was included in our stay each morning and the food was just amazing! There are so many delicious options to choose from, all while sitting poolside, with the option to be in the sun or shade, on a beautifully decorated patio, overlooking stunning ocean views.
I don’t know what else I can say about this place to convince you that you need to stay here except this… when leaving, I forgot my gold earrings in our suite. We contacted the hotel staff and they immediately had their driver deliver them to me in Mykonos Town, free of charge (which would have been the equivalent of a 40 euro cab trip - both ways!!!!)
If you want a relaxing stay in a gorgeous suite, with the most beautiful view and the kindest staff meeting your every need, Mykonos Earth Suites is the...
Read moreThis hotel falls way short of the mark in several different areas. It wasn't a great start when our transfer from the airport, which was arranged by the hotel, didn't arrive. After 30mins of waiting because the hotel said the driver is on his way, we decided to get our own taxi. No apology from the hotel for the inconvenience. We weren't offered an introduction to the hotel or a welcome drink and had to remind them about it the following day. In their limited introduction to the hotel and it's surroundings they suggested they have direct access to the beach but this was a 5 minute walk down a very steep road. The hotel pool was nice but positioned next to the noisy family hotel pool next door. Which isn't what you hope for when booking an adults only hotel.
Apart from George who worked at the bar, the staff were very not overly friendly or helpful. On top of that they were extremely tight with water, one example is when they tried to charge us for water with breakfast when it should be included.
The concierge were either incompetent or didn't care. We asked for information about where to go on the island and we were just handed a map. We asked for a high end restaurant recommendation and they suggested a place called "nice n easy". When we checked out, they didn't ask how was our stay, they didn't offer to help with a transfer, or with our bags once our taxi arrived.
I should also mention the road into town! It's only a 15minute walk but extremely dangerous with narrow roads, no pavement and lots of traffic driving way too fast. Even more dangerous walking back at night!
Thankfully, we only stayed here 3 nights and moved on to a different hotel which was incomparable! Similar price point but was actually on the beach, the staff couldn't do enough for us, the room was amazing. And we were offered bottles of...
