I just want to start off by saying my wife and I really don’t have very high standards when it comes finding comfort in a hotel. But here at Paola’s Town Boutique Hotel, comfort is a dart aimed the stars, but promptly thrown into an ever-flushing toilet. There’s lots to unpack here so let’s just get right to it:
1.) As soon as we got to our room we noticed it was pretty hot inside despite the outdoor temp being 65°F (18.33°C). We tried to turn on the AC and turn down the temperature but it activated the heat instead… Okay wow, surely this is user error? Nope. We tried to call front desk but I’ll get to that thorny chapter in a moment. 2.) Perhaps Paola could have used a wifi connection to provide some distraction away from our molten sauna’s bleeding heart. A dream only dreamt by those foolish enough to book a night here. The password was entered correctly but the signal was so weak that we could only connect intermittently for seconds at a time. And even then, the speed wasn’t even quick enough to present a loading icon before sending us back to the desert. 3.) By this point you might be thinking ‘well why doesn’t he just call the front desk and request a room change?’. That would be a magnificent suggestion had it been given to someone with a WORKING PHONE ON THE NIGHT TABLE. That’s right folks, you guessed it, “bare-minimum” is the name of a creature who would squander the ability to squeeze a drop on my boiling brain. The phone, hooked up to a charger plugged into a working outlet, does not turn on or do anything. Pretty sure it was placed here just for looks (could say the same about the entire hotel tbh but I digress).
I decided to march into the lobby. Alas I found a desolate land, baron of competence and/or employees, locked behind closed gates, seemingly made of driftwood. There was however, a paper sign on the decrepit gates that provided a number you’d dial for the lobby IF YOU HAD A WORKING PHONE, followed by an emergency number. Pay by the minute in an attempt to get ahold of anybody who could help? A fool’s thirst for gold knows no bounds. I called.
“All of the ac units in our rooms provide heat when the ac is turned on. There is no alternative solution to that. You can try to sign out and back in to the wifi a few more times, if that doesn’t work you will need to come to the lobby (remember, the hidden land behind locked gates?). And lastly, we have no other room available in the hotel.”
Being that we can’t fall asleep in an incubated demon seed, we decided to open the windows to let the cool air in. We found ourselves in an immediate negation with stray cats, bargaining deals with them to stay outside. It’s a lucky thing we love cats and is perhaps probably the only highlight of our stay so far. I’m writing this with the (foolish) hopes that management will read it in realtime and decide to lay thy holy hand of mercy on room 132. We’ll be...
Read moreBEST experience at Paola’s town boutique hotel Mykonos! We are still here, upgraded our room to the maisonette and it was totally worth it! The staff are so lovely, In particular my lovely behind the bar and the awesome housekeeper who does a fab job at cleaning our rooms each day on request. The pool is lovely, hotel is super clean and the location is just perfect! 15 min walk from Mykonos town, excellent restaurants and supermarkets nearby too. The pool is lovely, and we like the fact it’s not too crowded like most resorts so you have a more intimate feel. Has such a chic vintage and Greek exterior vibe, which we was looking for! Breakfast in the morning includes continental (eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, toast etc so defo suits the British), and also fruit, cheese cereal etc. the cleaners do a fab job day in day out, ensuring our balconies are swept and thoroughly soaped and sponged down every day. Would definitely stay here again as it has been faultless. Thanks to the whole team, we don’t want to go home!...
Read moreI had an incredible stay at this hotel, all thanks to the outstanding team, including Maria, Maria, George, Christina, and Katrina, as well as the dedicated housekeeping staff who ensured our room was always very clean. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, everyone went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. They ensured our safety and maintained exceptional cleanliness. Their dedication to accommodating our every request and going above and beyond was truly remarkable. They consistently worked to fulfill our needs and preferences, making our stay even more memorable. I'm especially grateful for the generous pricing when we extended our stay. The considerate gesture of packing our breakfast in takeaway boxes when we couldn't make it to the lobby was a lovely touch. We've stayed in several 5-star sea-view hotels before, but this one stands out as the best in town....
