When I arrived at the hotel with my wife I was very well received and well installed in my hotel room. I found the structure of the fantastic place, the beach, the pool, the restaurant, the hotel and the room. The service overall was good, apart from a fact that happened during our stay. I rented a Smart Electric from Hertz rental at the airport, as electric car is not something I'm used to, they reassured me that recharging was a simple thing and the only problem was that it took a whole night to charge but that Hotel Santa Marina had a "Super Charger" in which it fully charged the battery in 2 hours. Okay, he may have given the "super charger" information without being sure. The first night when I arrived with a car I asked the valets to load, they said they would do it without problems. The next day I woke up and when I went to get the car I realized it had not been loaded, I thought the staff could be forgotten and spent the day on the street with the car using it normally. when i came back to the hotel the second night i requested the same thing to be charged for me to go out the other day. what was my surprise when I woke up? The boy brought the car and reported that I had not asked his colleague to load the car. As I had a reservation time and the car still had a little battery, I did not discuss and leave with the car, when I returned at the end of the day I delivered the car with practically zero battery, and explained to all valets that I needed that the car would be charged for at least 2 or 3 hours as I would go out to dinner in the city. The staff said OK. What was my surprise when I went to get the car? I had not put the car to load anything, absolutely NOTHING. I got stressed, my wife got stressed and we asked to call the manager. There came a lady who I don't remember the name explaining to me that the car could not be loaded because it didn't have a part that was needed, but I showed that the part was in the trunk and was simply put in ANY simple plug to load. The gerete treated me badly like I was wrong. Even if I needed a special piece, a Hotel so luxurious, so reputable and as expensive as SANTA MARINA should at least put itself in the mood to try to solve my problem or at least give me an explanation of why it can't help me, and do not let it time for me to go out and see that the car was out of battery. Summary I was the last two days without a car and time to leave when I went to the front desk to call the store to help me with the car removal the employee told me that they did not want to come and again showed no effort trying to me to help. When I arrived at the airport I went to Hertz to try an explanation and see if a special piece was really needed to carry, the clerk said it was not necessary and was outraged as the Hotel may have refused to load my car. I asked her to show me an electric car as it was carried, she promptly drove me in a similar car and showed in a simple outlet inside the airport that the car could be charged in any outlet !!! THE HOTEL SIMPLY REFUSED TO LOAD A GUEST'S CAR. I leave this report here with great sadness because it hindered my trip and never spread it from a Hotel like Santa Marina. Especially my deepest disappointment with such a woman manager I don't remember the name, who has no preparation for how to treat guests of a...
Read moreI recently had the displeasure of staying at the Santa Marina Hotel, and I must say, it was an experience I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. From the moment I walked through the door, it was clear that this place was a disaster waiting to happen. However, the true highlight of this disastrous stay was none other than Leonidas Anagnostou, who seems to be on a personal mission to redefine the meaning of "customer service."
Mr. Anagnostou's demeanor can only be described as aggressively rude. It's as if he takes pride in treating guests with an astonishing lack of respect and a complete disregard for their comfort. His interactions are laced with condescension, and he seems to relish in asserting his perceived authority over guests. I found his behavior not only offensive but also utterly unprofessional.
During my stay, I encountered multiple instances where Mr. Anagnostou's behavior crossed the line. From the simple act of asking a question about hotel amenities to addressing concerns about the room, his responses were consistently curt and disdainful. It's one thing to encounter a staff member having a bad day, but it's an entirely different matter when the bad attitude is not a sporadic lapse but a consistent pattern. Not fitting for a Luxury Bonvoy Property.
What's even more baffling is that the Santa Marina Hotel seems to tolerate, if not encourage, Mr. Anagnostou's behavior. It's evident that this hotel has little regard for the satisfaction and well-being of its guests. The management's failure to address and rectify such a glaring issue within their staff speaks volumes about the overall lack of professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction at this establishment.
As someone who values hospitality and respects the principle of providing a welcoming environment to paying guests, I am utterly appalled by my experience at Santa Marina Hotel. It's beyond disappointing that a potentially beautiful hotel is marred by the presence of an individual like Leonidas Anagnostou, whose hostile behavior leaves a lasting stain on the reputation of the establishment.
In conclusion, I strongly advise anyone considering a stay at Santa Marina Hotel to think twice. The hostile and aggressive attitude displayed by Leonidas Anagnostou is reason enough to steer clear of this place. There are plenty of other options that prioritize guest comfort and satisfaction, rather than subjecting them to a toxic and unwelcoming atmosphere. Your vacation deserves better than this...
Read moreThe last time I went to Mykonos was with the boys and we hooked up with a bunch of Italian nurses. It was, quite simply, epic. But I was relatively poor and I shared my 3-star hotels suite with my two friends. God knows how we survived driving around the island on our scooters pissed out of our mind. If all young men could have the same fun as we did.||20-plus years on and I returned with my family. One of the friends I originally went with, a Greek-American who fancies himself a connoisseur of all things Mykonos, said that Mykonos had changed and not for the better. WRONG. Okay, maybe it’s not the carefree destination it was of my younger years but I had no complaints about the island’s beach clubs which, as an annual summer partier in St. Tropez and Cannes I can assure you they are well on par with their South of France cousins and, gasp!, may in fact be better. YES, they’re THAT good. Great vibe, great food and, just as importantly, GREAT and FRIENDLY staff.||So the hotel…. It’s a Marriot Bonvoy. Honestly, my experience with chains is generally not good. They’re too corporatized and don’t have the flexibility the smaller hotel groups have. This, frankly, blew us away. The facilities were excellent and the actual hotel layout was incredibly nice. Sure, coulda done without the stairs but they were helpful in working off some of the calories. But, seriously, the beach and beach restaurant was gorgeous the food was outstanding and the staff were among the nicest we’ve encountered. ||I can’t remember the category of room I had. I did find it to be on the small side. Were I to return I would definitely request something bigger. But, it was very nicely appointed and well in-line with its international peers.||A particular mention for the concierge. They were superb. I admit my wife is the concierge queen and uses them extensively wherever we go. Weeks before a trip she sends emails to book restaurants, day trips, etc., and once on site she uses them to hone the experience. They were fabulous and incredibly efficient. If only all concierges could be that good.||Lastly, based on my single guy experience I LOVE the town but, frankly, our dining experience at what were considered “good” in town restaurants was dismal. I don’t mind paying for good food and I particularly like Mediterranean cuisine and often have fish, but the in-town restaurants were as expensive as the beach clubs for poor food and no ambiance. Stay at the hotel and eat...
