Hotel Review - Great, But.. Disappointing Dinner Service
We are happy to share our experience at the hotel, which was excellent overall, but had some notable shortcomings, particularly regarding the half-board dinner.
Rating and Location: The hotel is very good, but there is a gap between the official 5-star rating and the actual feeling, which leans more towards a high 4-star level. The location is excellent—conveniently situated and close to everything.
General Service and Cleanliness: The general service is outstanding, and the rooms are immaculate. Our rooms were very clean and well-maintained.
The Half-Board Experience - A Sharp Contrast:
Breakfast - Truly 5-Star! The breakfast was truly excellent and high quality. The staff was exceptionally kind, hospitable, and welcoming. They prepared personalized omelets, pancakes, and quality coffee on demand. An outstanding experience!
Dinner at the Restaurant - The Main Disappointment: During the first three days, the dinner experience at the restaurant was disappointing. The menu was limited and did not offer a buffet as expected with a half-board plan at this level of hotel. Furthermore, the waiters at the restaurant were not friendly at all, which greatly dampened the atmosphere. The most frustrating part was the hidden charges: we were charged for extra bread, regular drinking water, and even a sauce we requested! The charges were a complete surprise and were applied without any prior notification, which is unacceptable, especially for a half-board guest.
Resolution and Compensation - Excellent Management: After speaking with a manager in charge, she demonstrated exceptional kindness and professionalism. On our last night, she offered us compensation with a dinner that was on a completely different level (and the staff was extremely attentive that evening). We greatly appreciate the swift and generous attempt to rectify the situation, but it is a shame the pleasant service only arrived after we complained and involved management.
Summary and Recommendation: The hotel is recommended for its strong advantages (location, cleanliness, and amazing breakfast). However, management needs to urgently improve the dinner experience (menu variety, transparency on charges for basic items, and most importantly, retrain the restaurant waiting staff) to ensure the service is welcoming and professional...
Read moreOk, the one and only....well, it's not really a complaint, more an observation, and that is the hot breakfast items bacon sausages, etc, could have been a bit warmer from the container. That's it negatives over.
The positives are endless, really, with a wonderful location about a 7-10 min walk from the windmills, Little Venice, and the Old Port, yet it's in a quiet residential area far enough from busy town. It's also 3-5 mins from Fabrika Bus Station to explore other parts of the island.
It's a boutique style 5⭐️ small hotel, compact yet with many areas to hide yourself. The pool area is relaxing and intimate but was a bit cold in October.
The room (Superior Double Spa Sea View) was just big enough for all our bags with a separate toilet and shower room but the view and personal verandah and jacuzzi added that luxurious touch and after a long day sightseeing was a delight to chill in.
Breakfast was extensive but not over the top, it was tasty, but the aforementioned temperature was highlighted to the staff and hopefully resolved soon.
We had dinner once, and it really was an amazing delight as were the drink selection, especially the cocktails.
What really made this hotel really is the staff to whom nothing was a problem. They were friendly but unobtrusive professional and absolutely made us feel special.
We must say a personal thank you to the bar staff, Serghei, Chris, Gregory, and the others whose names I unfortunately can't remember in the breakfast area, and all who made us feel special and welcome
After 20 years in aviation, staying over 3000 nights in hotels of all levels 1 to 5 star, this one is definitely in the top 1% and I highly recommend...
Read moreThe Hotel is one of the top-class hotels in Mykonos. The location can’t be even better. Located in the old town, it’s a 3 minute walk to the windmills of Karo Mili and the seafront promenade. In spite of the perfect location, you can sleep with the window open without being too loud. The interior of the hotel is super individual but everything does complement each other. Particularly, nice is the illumination which creates a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. There are two different restaurants located in the hotel designed very openly. One of the highlight is definitely the main pool by night. There are hundreds of small lights inside and they shine so beautiful when it’s getting dark, dreamy ambience. For the colder days there is a heated jacuzzi at the main pool and another smaller pool, also kids friendly. Our suite had a big terrace with sun loungers and also a private heated jacuzzi, so perfect. The breakfast buffet has everything you need for a good start in the day. There is a wide selection of warm, salty dishes and of course you find the traditional nice greek things. Individual cooked eggs are available in all variations and many different juices and also lactose-free and soya milk. The hotel complex, especially the pool areas and all plantings are amazing for taking nice pictures. If you are looking for the perfect pink-flower-greek-picture and some lovely white House background, here you can find it. Also a big compliment to the staff. They can give you a lot of valuable tips to discover the island and tell you the must-sees on Mykonos. Our two night stay at the Semeli was fantastic and we highly...
