Oniro Suites is rubbish. Save yourself the headache and if you are going to spend over $500 per night (during high season), look elsewhere! Do not be fooled by the glowing reviews.
Overlooks highway. No mention that that hotel faces the busiest street in Mykonos and opposite Rochari which hosts nightly parties. There is a small retaining wall but the hotel is in a u-shape facing the street so it captures all of the highway noise. If going to charge these prices with this location, the hotel needs to ensure that the doors and suites are completely soundproof. Offering disposal earplugs is not enough. The doors have large gaps underneath and are exceptionally thin. It feels like you are sleeping on the side of a highway during the day and at night. Mold smell pervasive. The hanging wicker lamps were covered in mold. While not dangerous, the smell is overpowering and masked with air fresheners. And because there is loud noise from cars and people on the street, it is impossible to open a window for fresh air. I was told that over the winter the lamps are stored in the rooms but cleaned for summertime. Store them somewhere where mold can’t grow or replace them with plastic. Faulty curtains. Unable to sleep beyond 6AM. Curtains that don’t block light fully. Light blocking type but light pours in top and bottom because the windows face the sunrise. I was taping the curtains shut and putting towels under the door. The whole time I was there, I couldn’t open the curtains after doing this. This is not acceptable for 575 per night. Noise - cars and screams and music. The ruckus that is created is unbearable and makes it mostly impossible to sleep through the night. All rooms in the hotel have this problem. Offering earplugs is not an acceptable solution. No cellular data service and no WiFi. Wifi only worked one evening of a 4 night stay. With limited cellular service where the hotel is situated, Wifi is essential. And it is not just the problem of it not working, they do not have enough routers in the hotel. It makes researching where to go or exploring the island mostly impossible. Small plunge pool that is next to wall that faces the highway. The marketing photos of the hotel are very misleading. There is nowhere to sit outside and relax without the sound of the road. And the pool is not a true pool. Be warned. Limited hot water. Hot water for showering runs out after 3 - 4 minutes of showering. This is not a youth hostel. A hotel at this 4 star quality should have unlimited hot water. This is not acceptable.
I alerted hotel management to all of these things, but they stated that “It is an unfortunate situation that the hotel did not meet your expectations. My colleagues at the hotel did their best to make your stay pleasant.” The experience was so frustrating, and infuriating that I had considered checking into another hotel but had paid the full...
Read moreThe most important thing for our stay was to be near the main town for sightseeing and food, but somewhere quiet where we could sleep. Though there were no loud all night parties going on nearby at this time of year, it was busy in the town and even people walking around late had the facility to keep us awake, so the location of the Oniro was perfect. Across the road there were a set of steps which led straight into the town, though it was fun and almost obligatory to get lost in the maze of streets quite often.|Early morning there was noise from the road, but this didn't bother us at night. A key pass system into the complex kept out anyone not staying there too.||The room was very modern and clean, posh coffee maker but no kettle, and a comfortable bed and pillows. Doors led to s separate shower and a toilet. Cleaners came every day and refreshed toiletries and coffee pods.||There was an annoying noise that did wake us at night though - something like a water pump which seemed to be in the ceiling or on the outside of the building. It only seemed to go off at night and only for a few seconds at a time. It wasnt the fridge ( which was silent ) and I doubt it could have been people flushing toilets, but it was enough to wake us up. Sort of "arrrrrrrrrrrrr". It wasnt that noisy, but as otherwise the place was silent, it was noticeable.||Internet/wifi worked most of the time, and whilst we found free parking on street just up the road by some garages, I think we were lucky. There were paid places to park though and everywhere in the area would have the same problem.||The only other thing is that these really aren't "suites" in the conventional sense of the word. They are a decent sized room with a big shower and a toilet. Exactly as the picture on the website, but suites ? ||Still, we had a great stay and would be happy to come back - if we could get to the bottom of the noise in...
Read moreIncredible that this happens these days!!! |After checking in and relaxing in the room, surprise, bed bugs! That was interesting because normally bedbugs come out at night because they prefer darkness (between midnight and 5am) and what you will see in the film was in the morning. Imagine how big is the infestation and how romantic nights look like. Really, in Mykonos in 2023?! Before booking I have checked and the hotel is highly rated, but still, it is what it is.|In order to get rid of the bedbugs they would have to close the hotel for thorough bug extermination. I have later rechecked the reviews and indeed they were very good and again wondering how is it possible. The answer seems to be that for some people it may take up to 14 days until the skin reaction becomes visible after the bedbug’s bite, so they simply didn’t know. The “nice thing” is that people will carry the bedbugs to their own homes. |We have asked for a refund from the hotel after leaving right away, their solution was to offer an upgrade, a bottle of wine and a free transfer to airport when leaving. Of course we have refused and their final answer was that they will not give any money back. They even said that we can even sue them if we want! |So, if you love bedbugs or looking for a new pet for your home, this hotel is the...
