Long review alert, but if you've never been to Mykonos, I hope you appreciate the details!||A friend at home had recommended a hotel down the beach. However, after looking at several negative reviews of that hotel, we took a chance and switched to Thalassa, and were thrilled with our stay! It's at the end of beautiful Platis Gialos...immaculately clean, big, bright modern rooms with comfortable beds and balconies that all faced the beach (our friends' room had its own outdoor dip pool too!) We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine, and the room had everything we needed, including yummy toiletries that we later searched for to take home. There is a shared pool on the property, but we never used it because the beach was so nice, and unlike many other properties, the beds and umbrellas were just steps away, and were included in our room rate (which btw was less than the other hotel!) There was some "techno" music playing all day, but it wasn't from this hotel...it was from the club next door. So it was fun and lively, but not too loud; just right. This music stopped after sunset, so there was no trouble sleeping with the doors open to the surf at night. Heavenly!||The beachside restaurant/ bar was a true bonus...we were served a lovely to-order breakfast each morning (also included in the room rate) with a wide variety of selections, and we even ate a nice dinner there one night. All of the staff was hard working, friendly and consistent over the three days we were there. We felt "known" and very pampered. ||Platis Gialos itself has a nice boardwalk that begins at our hotel and passes through several beach clubs and restaurants. There is also a great little mini-mart and a bakery, so it was just a short stroll to everything we needed. And the bus stop is located at the other end of the boardwalk for a quick and easy ride into Mykonos Town. There is also a water taxi that will take you to other local beaches, but we didn't try this since we were so happy where we were and felt like it would just be more of the same anyway.||We actually only ventured off of the beach twice...one night we took an (easy) walk to Scorpios for drinks and snacks at sunset, and one afternoon we took the bus to Mykonos Town; however the cruise ships were in town, so it didn't take us long to wish we were back at the beach instead of wandering shops that had much of the same shops as other towns. The other nights we chose to stay at the beach restaurants (in particular Avli tou Thodori) and just enjoyed the most relaxing time. A great break after the steep steps and bustle of Santorini, and got us rested up lots of walking Athens. Obviously highly...

Location - conveniently located on the prettiest beach on Mykonos, along a walking path that will take you in 10 mins to Paraga Beach (Scorpio recommended), and walking distance to several great restaurants (Yialo Yialo was a fav). There’s two mini markets just 5 minutes away one on the beach and one a few steps from the beach. The bus runs hourly to and from town and is near the mini markets.
Staff - The staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating. Anigelos took great care of us providing local recommendations, calling taxis, getting us drinks by the pool, carrying my 60lb bag to and from the room with ease, and ensuring we had a memorable stay. The front desk were helpful and available 24/7- they called to get us reservations, answered questions, and printed our ferry tickets.
Amenities - we preferred relaxing by the pool (less wind) with the beach view compared to the beach but it’s a great setup to have the best of both worlds and enjoy both depending on the time of year. There was lots of space between beach chairs/umbrellas. The included breakfast is oceanfront and was excellent (cappuccino & Nutella pancakes). The included toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel) were solid and the hotel provided a few bottled waters in your mini fridge daily. There’s also a steam room and small gym available for use on property. The sheets and shower were good quality and the AC worked well.
Rooms - we stayed in one of the rooms with a private pool/beach view balcony and also a two bedroom room that walked out to the main pool (no private balcony). Surprising we preferred the extra space in the two bedroom room (with two bathrooms) and close proximity to the main pool, but you can’t go wrong with...
Read moreWe stayed at this beautiful, beach front boutique hotel for our honeymoon and it far exceeded our expectations. Based on all the other beaches we checked out, I strongly believe we stayed at the most beautiful one- Platis Gialos. The view from the pool, from the breakfast, and from our room was one in a million. The location was perfect because it was a short walk to the bus stop that takes you to the main town and we were walking distance from Scorpios, Sant Anna + many bars / restaurants along our beach. It was so amazing to be able to also have the beach right downstairs from us and free sun beds rather than have to pay at every other beach club! This is definitely a more romantic and quiet area which is perfect for honeymooners and you can still go out to the town for a night out. The breakfast was delicious. The beach staff were extremely welcoming. I would like to give a huge shout out to the front desk that arranged ATV rental directly from our hotel so we didn’t have to go anywhere, and to Angelos. Angelos was such an important part of our stay and made it that much better. From the moment you meet him, he is so helpful, welcoming, and just a genuine person. Not only did he give us the best recommendations for bars, restaurants, and sights to see, but he was able to secure us last minute lunch reservations at Nammos and last minute sunset dinner reservations at Scorpios. This has been some of the best service we have ever received. He was so attentive to any questions we had. We are so appreciative. Please don’t hesitate to book here! We can’t wait to come back to Mykonos and we will not be staying anywhere else. Thank you for making us feel like we stayed...
