Myself and my partner booked a holiday in Mykonos Because it is supposed to be a gay and lesbian friendly spot in the Mediterranean. We did not find this to the be case. When we arrived at the airport we were looked for someone providing transport to the palace hotel, however we were picked up by a chap who was taking us to the dove hotel. This was confusing. When we arrived at the hotel we asked why were staying in a different hotel to the one we booked and they replied “it’s the same hotel it’s just one side has a different name as it’s been renovated”. We were then taken to our room. The room was so small you couldn’t open the door fully as it banged against the bed in the room. The first thing we noticed about the room was an overpowering damp smell, we then noticed that the double bed we had booked was actually two single beds pushed together with a large gap down the middle. On further inspection of the bed we noticed that there were hundreds of pubic hairs down the sides and in the crack in the middle. It was at this point I used a tissue to gather a clump of this pubic hair and took it to the reception desk asking to be moved to another room as the one we were in was unsanitary. They couldn’t move us that night but agreed to move us the following morning. Which they did. The second room was slightly larger, with the same overwhelming damp smell and not much cleaner. The rooms towels smelt like cigarettes and fried food making them unusable. All efforts to get replacement ones resulted in us being given more smelly towels. There was no private space to sit outside rooms, unless you believe using a square of camouflage netting to divide the concrete floor space is acceptable. ||||The breakfast was quite nice, and the staff serving were friendly. Evening meals were expensive in the hotel and rather basic. In fact most of the beach restaurants were similarly old fashioned in their culinary offerings. All very overpriced for what they were offering. ||||At this hotel expect to pay €8 for a bottle beer €15 for a cocktail €6 for a glass of wine (be warned it won’t be pleasant) starters cost around €7 and main meals range between €13 and €40.||||The beach was nice and sandy, and the two girls working on the beach for the hotel were lovely and very helpful. There was a hierarchy on sun bed location - expect to pay more the closer you are to the sea. Suffice to say there are much much nicer places to go in Greece and we won’t...
Read moreI'm very late in writing this review, but since staying here with my family in July 2016 (my review says 2018 because I couldn't select 2016), several people have asked for suggestions on where to stay while we visited a few of the Greek islands. My husband, 4 year old daughter at the time, and myself while 5 months pregnant with twins stayed here and absolutely LOVED it. From the moment of our arrival, the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Our daughter was given a goodie bag and all! The buffet breakfast was always delicious, fresh, and constantly being replenished and tended to. I can't say enough about the staff, they were always greeting us and the other guests and especially paying attention to the kids. ||||The pool isn't very large, but it was plenty big enough since you really want to be on the beach anyway! There is a pool bar and lounge area too, both fun! On the beach, you can reserve chairs (I think we paid a small additional fee) and enjoyed beach side food and beverage service. ||||Our room was spacious and clean with all the amenities. Our room had a small balcony, big enough for a couple of chairs and overlooked the pool area and ocean. Very comfy for our family of 3!||||There are a couple of restaurants along the small stretch of beach, the bus stop is just a quick walk up to the road which we used to get to Mykonos Town, and you can also catch a water taxi nearby that we took...
Read moreAwful. Totally overpriced paid €680 euros for two nights for two rooms I wouldn’t even stay here if someone paid me. On arrival we had to pay an extra €100 euros for an upgrade.Where to even begin with the room, the furniture is about 30 years old. Yellow/brown stained net curtains. Awful hard mattress. Wires coming out the wall. Door doesn’t shut properly and blows in the wind. Noisy. Room is generally old and run down and is priced at €180 per night! Woke up in the middle of the night to water coming through the ceiling which flooded the bathroom which is surely a health and safety risk. Told the night manager who moved me to another room which had even more flooding so moved back to the original room. In the morning we wanted to check out and have the next night refunded. The manager was very rude and unhelpful. Manager was staring at my chest throughout and told me I had a bug on my chest which I flicked of to his amusement. Would not give a refund for the second night and wouldn’t even give a refund for the upgrade we paid for! Total joke! He then offered us an upgrade to the other hotel but we just wanted to get out ASAP cut our losses and check into another hotel. Avoid this place at all costs. Bad WiFi and you also have to pay for the sun beds. Will definitely not...
