Avli Tou Thodori — Restaurant in Municipality of Mykonos

My partner and I went here on the first day of our holiday (14th of September). The atmosphere was phenomenal as we were sat right next to the beach! Service was prompt and amazing.

The food was sensational and the portion sizes are great! Definitely worth a visit if you’re coming to Mykonos. Thank you to our server Nikos who went above and beyond!

We recently decided to visit Avli again (21st September) as we enjoyed it very much on our first night in Mykonos. As it was cold we opted to sit inside for our food, which turned out to be the biggest mistake we could make. The service was shocking with the waiters not even making eye contact with you while handing menus or speaking with you. The punch in the teeth came when I had asked if they use mozzarella for their pizza and the waiter replied in such a hasty and horrible tone, making me feel rather silly for asking a question to clarify which “cheese” they used. From the beginning the experience was soured by the lack of personable waiters.

Nonetheless, we ordered our food and tried to enjoy the atmosphere instead. The atmosphere was nothing like the first night and was rather loud, and waiters were running around like headless chickens without any real purpose as there were still tables that hadn’t been clean since we arrived. The starters we had were tasty however, my partner received his before I did and we had to enquire where mine was.

Here comes the kicker. We finished our starters and out comes our pizzas. As soon as the pizza was put on the table I knew that the pizza base had to be frozen. If a restaurant is charging upwards of €15 for a pizza, I’d hope that they’d at least make you aware that the base is frozen. Despite this I decided to try the pizza, which had raw and rather cold dough with hot toppings. Unfortunately my partners pizza was worse than mine so we had to send both back.

The experience was soured completely. The only reason why the overall remains a 2 for all criteria is because of the first night we came. Otherwise it would have received a lower score. I am very disappointed in Avli as it was one of my favourite restaurants this holiday and I was really excited to visit it for one of the last days we are here for.

It is also safe to say that I felt as if they were more personable and friendly to more middle-aged and older clientele. This is just the impression I received from two of the waiters who had very different attitudes towards other older tables, but expressed some distain to...

My friends and I stayed in Mykonos for 2 days and came to dinner both nights at Avli Tou Thodori because of their delicious food and great service.

First night: we came on a busy Wed night with no reservation around 9:30am but was still able to get seated right away at a nice booth. We ordered the open grilled calamari (great texture and loved the smokey taste), spaghetti seafood (absolute must try!!) and spaghetti al pesto with pine nuts (goes great with the Parmesan cheese provided). Our foods came quickly and the servers were so attentive, coming around to refill our cups. We ordered loukoumades for dessert at the end and was told it would be on the house.

Second night: we came on Thursday close to 10pm and it was a less busy night on the strip. We got seated at the same booth (per our request) and the servers even recognized us and welcomed us back. We ordered the fried calamari with tartare sauce (tasted good but prefer the grilled calamari for its smokey flavor), two spaghetti seafoods (b/c it was so delicious the first time), and margarita pizza (the only dish that disappointed us because it was basically a cheese pizza). We were so full towards the end that we declined to order dessert when the sever asked. However, he still presented us with a small cream tart and said it was on the house 🥺.

Drinks: I had the virgin cocktails and liked it, esp the strawberry daiquiri. My friend ordered the pina colada, frozen mango margarita and the recommended which was a white rum with some sort of mint leaf mix. She enjoyed the recommended one most and felt all the drinks had a good amount of alcohol content unlike other places which watered down their drinks.

I recently dined at Avli Tou Thodori in Mykonos, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was captivated by the breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. The sight of the gentle waves lapping at the shore, created the perfect ambiance for a relaxing evening.

The menu at Avli Tou Thodori is a seafood lover's dream. I had the Grouper, and it was absolutely amazing—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The other seafood dishes were equally impressive; the freshness and quality of the ingredients were evident in every bite. The accompanying sides and sauces complemented the seafood beautifully, enhancing the overall dining experience.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and making sure everything was just right. The combination of excellent food, stunning views, and top-notch service made for a memorable dining experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Mykonos.
