Read moreWe stayed at The George Hotel in Mykonos from August 22nd to 28th, 2024, for a family holiday with two adults and two kids (ages 11 and 13). From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. The hotel arranged for our airport pickup, and their driver set the tone with his friendliness, making sure to engage with our kids during the short 10-minute drive to the hotel.
As someone who is very particular, I often find myself disappointed with accommodation, but this was not the case with The George Hotel. The hotel is stunning, with immaculate cleanliness and well-maintained facilities. Upon our arrival, the staff warmly welcomed us, and a porter promptly delivered our luggage to our family room. The room itself was spacious, with a large balcony offering a great view of the sea. It had everything we needed - two TVs with Netflix, ice-cold air conditioning, a powerful and spacious shower, and a pristine bathroom. Each day, we returned to find the room absolutely spotless, with fresh towels and neatly made beds. A credit to the housekeeping team. The room also featured the usual safe, a nice coffee machine, and a fridge. The beds were incredibly comfortable too. Despite being booked up, the hotel was quiet, and we experienced no intrusive noise. The bar area was a good place to hang out, and we met some great people.
The outdoor pools were a highlight, as they were large and often uncrowded, allowing us to enjoy them almost entirely to ourselves. The poolside bar served excellent food, and the modern, relaxed ambiance made it the perfect spot to unwind. The bar area was well-designed, and the staff were consistently friendly and attentive. We particularly appreciated the service buttons at both the pool and the beach, allowing us to easily order drinks and food whenever we wanted - which were always delivered without any issues, by the fabulous staff.
A fantastic perk of staying at The George Hotel is access to complimentary sunbeds (*subject to availability) at their sister hotel, Acrogiali Beach on the beachfront. Towels were provided and this will save you between 100 to 150 euros per day compared to some of the other vendors. The beachfront itself is absolutely beautiful, and reached with a short 4-minute walk from the hotel. The food at Acrogiali beach was also excellent, and we took the opportunity to explore a few local dining spots along here (We ate ate Yialo Yialo 3 times - great food, atmosphere and also highly recommended!)
For anything we needed outside the hotel, Sunrise Supermarket was our go-to. Kostas, the owner, was exceptionally helpful and fun, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. When my son accidentally dropped a can of drink, Kostas refused to let us pay for it, showing the kind of hospitality that made our stay even more special.
During our six-night stay, we found it nearly impossible to fault anything. The cleanliness, amenities, and overall experience were top-notch. However, what truly made our stay unforgettable was the exceptional staff. A special thanks to Gianni, who organized our boat trip to Delos and Rhenia Islands—a standout experience that I highly recommend to anyone...
Read moreFor my 4-day trip to Mykonos, I traveled with my family of seven. It was myself with my three children ages 10, 13, and 15, and my parents. Initially, I was looking for a property directly on the beach. When I spoke with people at the Acrogiali they informed me that they had no availability, however they said I should speak with their sister hotel The George. At first I was hesitant because it was not directly on the beach which was what I really wanted for my kids, but once I realized there weren't many other options, I went ahead with the booking. I was concerned that we were going to be too far away from the beach despite the fact they said it was only a short walk. Once I arrived to the property I was so pleased to learn that the walk to the beach was not even 5 minutes. It was barely a 3-minute walk from the front door down to the beach. What turned out to be a lovely surprise was that by being elevated over the beach up on the hills, we had an exceptional view with stunning sunsets. We learned that guests at other hotels came to the George Beach for the two beautiful Infinity swimming pools which were highly sought after. They offered amazing views of the beach and a good portion of the island. The hotel staff was extraordinarily helpful and accommodating. My father who was in a wheelchair for the trip was tended to at every turn. No matter where we went, there was a member of the staff willing to help. Every morning there was a lovely breakfast buffet by the pool that was a terrific way to wake up with the family. The rooms were all spacious, modern and beautiful. Knowing that Mykonos is largely a party island, we wanted somewhere with some activity, but not too much over the top. This was a perfect combination. The beach promenade was filled with very nice Beach clubs and cafes, and the expected gorgeous people you would hope to see on Mykonos. Every morning we would wake up and see massive yachts parked on the water. This is clearly where the billionaires hang out. Everywhere you turned there are a lot of younger people, beautifully dressed and looking for a good time on Mykonos while they were also a good number of families from across the globe. From the moment we arrived and our driver Costas introduced himself, every member of the staff was extraordinarily gracious and kind. The hotel itself exceeded all expectations as a hillside resort. Everything was freshly painted bright white just like you would expect. The bar at the pool had a super cool and chill vibe and the bartenders were friendly with just the right balance of friendly, small talk and terrific service. The drive into town was about 20 minutes during traffic, and 10 minutes without traffic. If you're looking to be in the downtown party area, this may not be the perfect place for you. But if you're looking for somewhere that is easily accessible to the beach, an amazing view, and a luxurious series of swimming pools, you have to check this out. If you like taking pictures and selfies and posting on social media, you will fill your camera roll with picture after picture. It really is a...
