We (family of 2 adults and 1 kid) have spent 3 days at Castello in July 2022. Would not return. We were missing the true hospitality (which we have encountered in so many other places in Naxos, that we unfortunately were expecting it also at Melidron) and especially the family friendliness. Please tell your guests beforehand that their kids aren’t allowed to play in the pool!
Pros: Lovely decorated modern rooms, hotel feels new and fresh, value for money (for the smaller rooms, the suites seem a tad pricey), clean facilities. Some staff very friendly (unfortunately counterbalanced by some other staff at the pool/bar)
Cons: Lack of family friendliness (children are not allowed to play in pool!) and the location next to main road through Agios Prokopios (although its fair to say that the location is not terribly bad, but still some 400m walk to the Beach and restricted sea views). Breakfast was an disappointment for us (limited selection/very average quality, poor coffee unless you pay extra) and the room very small (admittedly we have had a Standard room with an extra crib and in this setup only one person could walk around in the room. Book a larger room if you need any space). Gym small/equipment need maintenance/no aircon.
++ Follow-up after feedback from the hotel owner ++ IMHO regarding your point “That means no water guns to other guests”: Fully agree that a pool is shared territory and kids should not be allowed to annoy other guests. But you made our 3yo girl cry and stopped her from playing because “rules are rules”, while there was no other person in the pool she could bother. And told me that “she is not the problem, but other kids could see her using a water toy, behave badly and therefore we need to stop it”. Same thing happened just one day later to a German family with 3 young girls playing with a plastic excavator – they were forced to stop playing, even though nobody else was at the pool, because “toys are not allowed in principle”. So please don’t feel shocked - I didn’t say or believe that you’re a bad hotel - just that I haven’t experienced you as overly...
Read moreWe stayed at Melidron for 5 nights not sure what to expect as we went mostly on the overwhelmingly positive reviews we had found online and a couple of requirements we had for the place we wanted.
The hotel is spectacularly clean and modern. The pool and eating area is charming and lovely to spend time in to hang out. The fitness centre was a great addition.
The room was great with a large shower and a wonderful balcony with an amazing sea view. Housekeeping was quick and efficient (done usually by the time we finished breakfast in the morning).
The location (Agila Prokopios) worked very well for us as we knew we didn’t want to be in crowded and noisy Naxos Town. Only a 5 minute drive from Naxos town, our surrounding area had everything that one would need (most things were closed because of our travel dates). Plenty of restaurants, markets, cafes, laundry, supermarket, gas station, unique services, rentals, etc are normally available. The beach is literally a 3 minute walk down from the hotel.
The morning breakfast was pretty amazing with everything fresh and homemade. Different pies and pastries every day and everything was made with local products. One of the highlights for sure.
But the best part of our stay (on top of all the above) had to be the Melissourgos family which was unbelievably warm and accommodating. We were made to feel welcome and anything that we may have needed, they were right there and kindly obliged. Petros, Eleni, Evi and Dimitris were fantastic! Each one contributed in some way to making our stay what it was. We would strongly recommend Melidron and will certainly stay there if we...
Read moreI'd like to start off by saying thank you to the entire team here! You are the reason I can't wait to come back. The hotel is nicely built and the grounds were very well maintained. It's close to the beach, maybe a 5 minute walk. The pool area is very nice and clean, and there is plenty of space to sit and eat breakfast, lunch, or drinks.
I'm a bigger man, the beds were very comfortable for me and everyone in our group as well. Air conditioning was cold and worked perfectly. The fridge in the room worked great and had enough space for drinks and snacks. The kids loved the pool and their room.
After a month in Greece this was one of the best hotels we stayed at, it was a great experience! The family that are the owners all work there and put an amazing effort into making everyone welcome. Taxi service is also available with friendly and knowledgeable drivers. The front desk is extremely kind and helpful. Check in and out went smoothly and was fast.
The food was amazing and fresh with plenty of choices. The bar tenders were friendly, and we had a few good laughs. I honestly can't wait to come back. I can't say anything negative about it other than I had to leave and go back home to Canada hahaha. Thank you again, you helped make our vacation memorable, and we will be...
