Staying at Oniro, hosted by Petros and Georgia was one of the highlights of our trip to Greece.
We met Petros at the port, and were immediately at ease with his helpful nature, as he was also not being pushy or putting pressure on us. He took us and our luggage and showed us several available options at his properties.
We decided to stay at Oniro.
We were won over by the freshly renovated and spotless rooms, and the stunning views from the shared and spacious rooftop deck.
Georgia served us beer on the roof deck, as Petros put our bags in our room, and Georgia was a complete delight to talk to. The personal welcome and her demeanor were absolutely warm and endearing.
We stayed in Naxos as Oniro for three nights, and borrowed bicycles from Oniro (and cycled to the Olive Museum - a decent trek, but a great thing to do if you like to bike!) one of the days. Other days were spent riding a scooter around the island and walking through the old town, which was right nearby.
One afternoon, we relaxed on the beach that was only about 10 minutes away. (If you're approached on the beach and offered a massage, don't forget to say no twice if you want to pay about half their posted asking price!)
All of Georgia's food and tourist destination recommendations were spot-on. Our favourites were the restaurant immediately beside the hotel (To Elliniko), as well as Doukato Restaurant. Both of those were easily our favourite meals we had in over 2 weeks in Greece!
You cannot possibly go wrong staying at Oniro. We hope to...

It is situated within a few minutes walk to the square with several good restaurants & a few more minutes to the town waterfront. St George beach is a couple of minutes walk in the other direction.||The Oniro is also situated in a quiet street with very little traffic noise, day or night.||The owners, Petros & Georgia, are a lovely couple who will do their utmost to make your stay a pleasant one.||During our stay we were in two different rooms. Both had been newly refurbished & were immaculate, boutique rooms with a hi tech lighting setup. Everything was in pristine condition during our two week stay there.||We were met at the port by the owner who transported us to his hotel. We were given a beer each on the roof garden & told that free coffee & cake would be available each morning at 9am served by his wife Georgia. ||The highlight of my stay was the fact that the large rooftop area was freely available to guests. The whole area is very tastefully set out with tables, chairs & couches. There was also an area under cover in case of rain. There is a great sea view & hillside villages to see & while we were there great sunsets.||There was also a fresh drinking water tap there if required.||The Oniro enjoys many regular & seasoned visitors who come year after year and this is an hotel which you will also wish...
Read moreAfter our booked accommodation was unable to accommodate my friend and I (there was a leak which had caused no electric), we were offered a stay at Oniro Studios at no extra cost. We were quickly collected by one of the owners, who kindly carried our (very heavy) backpacks and showed us to our room. The room was lovely and clean - private balcony with a view of the sea and sunset (amongst the houses), comfortable bed, en-suite, WiFi, linen and towels, wardrobe space, mirror, hairdryer, kettle etc. The rooms are cleaned daily, and to a spotless condition. Breakfast (tea, coffee, bread etc, biscuits, and another ‘surprise’ option - we had peaches one day, and Greek yoghurt the next) is served daily from 9.30am on the roof terrace, which also has a great view of the sea and rest of Naxos. The roof terrace is accessible at all times, and I suggest watching the sunset on it. You also have your own keys to come and go as you please. The accommodation is in a great location - near the beach, main square and port (a restaurant called To Elliniko is also close and is amazing). The owners will also hold your luggage for you on your departure day, and bring it to you at the port in time for your ferry. In a nutshell, clean and nicely decorated rooms, excellent service, and kind owners. I would...
