Blue Waves — Hotel in Municipality of Thira

I am currently having the pleasure of staying at the Blue Waves Hotel in Kamari, Santorini, and I must say it is truly an outstanding experience. This is actually my second visit to this amazing hotel, and just like last year, it has once again surpassed all my expectations.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from the hotel staff, including the owner, Ioannis. Their attentiveness and genuine hospitality made me feel right at home, ensuring that every aspect of my stay was taken care of with great professionalism.

The location of Blue Waves Hotel is simply ideal. Nestled in the breathtaking village of Kamari, I am treated to magnificent views of the Aegean Sea and the famous Santorini sunset. The proximity to the beach is a definite advantage, allowing me to enjoy leisurely walks along the shore and immerse myself in the beauty of the surroundings.

The accommodations at the hotel are exceptionally comfortable. My room is spacious, impeccably clean, and offers a sense of tranquility. The private balcony is a true gem, providing me with a panoramic view that is nothing short of breathtaking. The separate kitchen is also a wonderful addition, adding convenience to my stay.

The facilities at Blue Waves Hotel are outstanding. The pool area is a tranquil oasis, complete with comfortable loungers and umbrellas, where I can relax and soak up the sun in pure bliss. Every aspect of the hotel's amenities is meticulously designed and maintained, reflecting an attention to detail that is truly remarkable.

I cannot emphasize enough the exceptional service provided by the hotel's staff. A special thanks goes to Tatiana, the receptionist, and her senior colleague (whose name unfortunately slipped my mind). They are incredibly welcoming, kind, and professional. Every interaction I have with them is met with a genuine smile and an eagerness to go above and beyond to ensure my comfort. They are always available to provide recommendations, assist with bookings, and make arrangements for any activities I wish to partake in. Their dedication and attentiveness have truly made my stay at Blue Waves Hotel unforgettable.

We stayed at Blue Waves Hotel in Kamari, and overall the experience was disappointing, especially considering the price.

Main Issues: • Misleading Information on Booking.com: Our reservation showed breakfast included and a jacuzzi, but breakfast was charged extra and there was no public jacuzzi available. • Room Quality: The room was extremely narrow with almost no space to move, no mirror, and just a small door instead of a real window. It felt humid with poor air circulation, making it difficult to sleep. The walls were very thin, and we could hear noise from the reception and outside. • Bathroom Problems: The water was extremely salty, the drain didn’t work well, and there was hair in the shower hose and bathroom that was never cleaned. There was no shelf or surface to place shampoo, soap, or bathroom products. The shower walls didn’t feel clean, the towels were rough, and there was no hand soap provided. • Pool: The pool was smaller than shown in the pictures, and after swimming, our skin even turned blue, which was concerning. • Laundry: The hotel did not offer laundry service, and we were sent to an external provider costing €17 per load — much more expensive than nearby laundry options.

Conclusion: For the price we paid, the quality of the room, facilities, and service did not match expectations. There are far better options available in Kamari and Fira for the same price or even less. I would not recommend this hotel unless...

Wir waren für 4 Nächte im Blue Waves in Santorini. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und das Personal gab uns gleich Tipps für umliegende Restaurants und andere Lokalitäten. Danach wurde uns unsere "Deluxe Suite" gezeigt, die wir gebucht hatten. Das Personal zeigte sich hellauf begeistert und wir waren ehrlich gesagt etwas enttäuscht als wir das Zimmer sahen. Mit Luxus hatte das nicht viel überein. Das Zimmer verfügte über ein Jacuzzi auf dem Balkon und einer sogenannten Cave-Doppeldusche. Zu zweit duschen war jedoch nicht möglich, da der Wasserdruck auf der einen Seite dann nicht ausreichend war. |Zur Begrüßung gab es an der Hotelbar noch einen Ouzo mit Limo. |Das Hotel liegt gleich am Strand von Kamari, das ist wirklich ein großer Vorteil. |Das Zimmer ist ein Mix aus alt und neu. Da auf unseren Zimmer keine Strandhandtücher zu finden waren, fragten wir bei der Rezeption nach. Nach einer Weile bekamen wir einen fast zerfetzten Lappen überreicht.. eigentlich ist es eine Frechheit einen solchen Fetzen als Handtuch an Gäste herauszugeben. Wir hatten zum Glück eigene Strandtücher mit, sodass wir nicht auf die aus dem Hotel angewiesen waren. |An zwei Abenden funktionierte die Klimaanlage nicht. Ich ging also zur Rezeption wo ich niemanden antraf. Im Nebenzimmer war die Dame der Rezeption gerade ein Zimmer am fertig machen. Sie versprach zu kommen und brachte die Anlage auch wieder ans laufen. Am nächsten Tag funktionierte sie wieder nicht. Die Dame kam erneut, blieb aber diesmal erfolglos und versprach sich drum zu kümmern. Insgesamt dauerte es eine Stunde, bis das Problem behoben war! Im Zimmer war es kaum auszuhalten bei der Hitze. In einem Deluxeroom sollte schon dafür gesorgt sein, dass die Klimaanlage läuft.||Der Hotelpool ist nicht sehr sehenswert.|Dafür großer Vorteil: der Strand von Kamari ist direkt vor der Tür (2-3 Gehminuten vom Hotel zur Strandpromenade) und dort gibts eine große Auswahl an Restaurants, Shops und Hotels. Wir waren in Elias Eatery dinieren und waren sehr begeistert. Das Restaurant ist etwas gehoben und das zeigt sich auch an den Preisen. Dort wird auch Frühstück serviert, das sehr empfehlenswert ist. Wir waren an zwei Tagen dort und wurden gleich sehr freundlich begrüßt. Liegen kann man an demselben Strandabschnitt für 10€ (2 liegen und 1 Schirm) für einen Tag mieten. |Strandliegen gibts an ganzen Strand von Kamari (wo keine Hotels oder Tavernen sind gibts Liegen für 7€ am Tag. Wenn man bei einer Taverne liegt, dann zahlt man nichts vorausgesetzt man isst zu Mittag in dieser Taverne).|Der Strand war im Juni, als wir dort waren, zwar gut besucht aber nicht zu laut. Wer von weißem Strand träumt, der wird in Santorini enttäuscht werden. In Kamari ist der Strand mit Steinen, ins Wasser gelangt man schwierig über sehr rutschige Steinplatten. ||Wir haben uns über das Hotel einen Transport vom Hafen für 20€ zum Flughafen für 18€ gebucht. Hier hat alles gut funktioniert und der Fahrer war sehr pünktlich. ||Sehr gut und günstig essen kann man im Captains Corner, gleich gegenüber dem Hotel. Die Inhaber sind sehr freundlich grüßen einen immer beim vorbeigehen.||An einem Abend sind wir mit dem Auto nach Oia gefahren zum Sonnenuntergang. Von Kamari muss man eine Stunde einrechnen. Der Ort ist sehr mit Touristen überlaufen und somit wird das wahrhaftig schöne Sonnenuntergang Foto von den Menschenmassen zerstört. Man kommt kaum durch die Gassen. Besser bleibt man an einem Strand auf der Seite und schaut sich den Sonnenuntergang...
