Varkes — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

We went to use the sunbeds as a group of around 15 people and was told the sunbeds would be free if we ordered drinks from here. I spent €79 euro on extremely overpriced cocktails which were 3/4 ice, others in my group spent similar (in couples or 3’s) All in all I think our group must of spent around €200 and when we went to pay he charged everyone €10 per sunbed. After reminding him that it was included they told me it is not and “now you know for next time”. They become quite persistant at the bar inviting more staff over telling me I HAD TO pay it. I paid in the end as it’s not worth the trouble over €10 but it is fundamentally wrong that you are told one thing and told another after. All other places around here offer free sunbeds or free with a purchase. This place quite simply tried to take advantage of tourists. Avoid at all costs as there are plenty of other fantastic...

Have been here for several times , have been renting sun beds, everything was good , good service and very nice staff. BUT 21 August one guy came to us and saw that we have been drinking coffee that we brought with us and in a VERY rude way told us that either we have to buy everything only in there cafe or - citation- “better don’t come here”. When I tried to say that we are not for the first time and just come with our morning coffee in hands and that later of cause we will order something inside there cafe as well he told me- citation- “do you understand what I told you ?! Do you understand that?!” Me and my wife were shocked and left the place immediately. Later we found out that that man in black T-shirt is the owner . Very sad and shocking for such behaviour with customers, nowhere in Santorini never seen anything similar! Be careful...

We were chased by the heat to this place, first we checked the menu - a smoothie costs 7,5 Eur. Not cheap but we are on holiday, so we decided to stay and enjoy the shatter for a while. Once the waitress arrived she explained us that this would be "the wrong menu" and a smoothie costs actually 9,5 Eur, so 2 Eur more. We stayed anyway because we already had a seat and wanted to avoid an awkward situation, nevertheless I can also describe this as a shameful scam. If they know that there is a "wrong menu" than the easiest thing in the world would be to simply correct it, but they apparently don't intend to do so, but they hope that the stupid tourist doesn't change his mind because of a 2 Eur difference and stays put. That's what I also did, thus shame on...
