Kamari Beach Santorini — Attraction in Municipality of Thira

We had a great day at this beach.The water is clean and clear and is depend enough for swimming close to the shore. The beach bar served reasonably priced beers and freshly made sandwiches and the sunbeds were comfortable enough for a snooze. The bar played great mellow vintage tracks all day which we found perfect for a chilled lazy hot day! Kamari also has a shoreline strip of great restaurants,shops and clubs which makes for a pretty stroll to the beach. Also has free parking! Nice black rock/sand beach only a 20 minute bus ride from Fira. We found nice cushioned chairs to sit on- you just have to purchase drink or food from the restaurant to stay on them. Didn't swim though as found it difficult to walk near the sea and rather uncomfortable. Water shoes are a must! The constant stream of people selling massages was a bit annoying! Wonderful visit to Kamari beach. Picked a perfect day: 26°C. The water was fresh, but felt perfect to lift the heat of the day. Be aware Kamari is a black stone/pebble beach. If you have them, bring water shoes. We found cabanas to rent. But there were also unoccupied restaurants with cabanas others were using (peak season here apparently is from May). We visited in the First week in April and in the early afternoon, so the beach was pretty unpopulated. There are no specific beach amenities: toilets, changing rooms, showers, etc. so please pack accordingly. We had lunch at a local restaurant and asked if they would mind us using their restaurant as a base. They were very accommodating. As much as we enjoyed our holiday on Santorini, the beach didn't impress me a lot. It was interesting to see black volcanic sand but, if you like long soft yellow sandy beaches this is not that one. Also, endless offers for massage and be ready that your "no" and even clear explanation you don't like massage will not work, you will have this offer every 5 minutes. Well, I preferred swimming pool )) So, why it is on star less. Everything else was wonderful.
