First of all, I am not in the habit of writing reviews but felt compelled after my son and I completed our stay at the Hotel Eri in Parikia, Paros. Efficient pickup at the ferry and seemingly warm greeting from Heleni at the front desk. We got our key and went to the room which was conveniently ready for us for our morning arrival. Room is in much need of updating. Bedding, fixtures, and furniture are very dated and not at all “ charming”, as this hotel was promised to be on our tour company’s website. The shower is tiny, as are many in Europe, but this one seemed particularly awkward to move around in. Interestingly, on the hotel website, they point out that the hotel was built in 1988 and renovated in 2001! As if the renovation was recently completed. That’s 23 years ago so it’s time for another update. If not, at least take that part off your website. It’s not really anything to crow about. Perhaps the biggest change needed had to do with accessing the room, in particular the lack of a scan card for entry to the room. Every time someone entered a room in our hallway, the lock could be heard echoing. In fact, due to lousy soundproofing, every single conversation could be heard in the hallway and from other rooms at all hours. We go to bed fairly early and even the white noise app on my phone was not enough to cover it up. ||I also feel compelled to comment on the breakfast offered at this property. By European standards, it was definitely lacking. I’ve stayed in many hotels and countries in Europe (including chaperoning school trips) and I’d have to say this is likely the worst breakfast I’ve seen. It was exactly the same breakfast for all 4 mornings that we stayed there. And I mean exactly. Thankfully, there was fresh watermelon and Greek yogurt. Boiled and very runny scrambled eggs were there as well. Aside from that it was largely processed food. Mini-wieners, likely from a can, store-bought bread, mass produced baked goods, including cakes and cookies. Brewed coffee only. No espresso options?Haven’t seen that in Europe in recent years. Quite disappointing, given the quality of products available at any bakery in any country in Europe. In fact, there are several excellent bakeries in Paros whose services could’ve been utilized. Charge clients a bit more to cover it if you have to. It will be better for the hotel’s reputation in the end. ||The hotel also has some very weird policies. No food or beverages (including water bottles) allowed in any public area of the hotel. Wait, what?! We were heading off to the beach one day and asked for some towels to take. We were told by Heleni at the front desk that it was not possible to borrow towels to do so. We thought they might have made an exception for overseas travellers who certainly don’t have room to pack beach towels in their luggage. We only had carry-on so it really wasn’t possible. Nope, a hard no without so much as an apology. So an interesting day at the beach without any method to dry off or something lay on! ||We do have to give a big shout out to Michail who worked the afternoons and evenings at the front desk as well. Very helpful in arranging a rental car for us and spend a long time going over on a map where he thought we should go on our day tour. But we always felt that Heleni was lurking behind him on several occasions, barking out directions and criticism to him. |I would suggest that she is not an asset to the hotel. The kitchen and housekeeping staff don’t seem to be too happy working under her. ||I would also try to find a hotel that is a bit closer to town. Normally, we’re just fine to be out of the action a bit so it’s a bit quieter. As already stated, this is not that quiet a hotel and the walk to the water was pretty circuitous, along a run-down trail. This was made worse by the fact that the hotel doesn’t really offer much in the way of food so it became necessary to walk down to the town at least...
Read moreThis hotel was part of an organized tour. The location is about 10 minutes walking distance to the main strip and beach. They have their own path to get there which is lit. A bit closer to the town would have been nicer. The rooms are plain, which is fine. Each room has a balcony or sit down exclusive area. Not happy with the toiletries. They only gave shampoos and bars of soap. The towels were rough. AC worked. The shower curtain was made of fabric and kept sticking to your body with the air flow. The best item in the room was the back lit mirror. Our fridge didn't work and on the second night when we returned, we advised the front desk and the owner lady proceeded to scold is on why we hadn't advised her sooner. ? We mentioned maybe it was a simple fix as she mentioned no one was on site. There was someone with her that offered to come and be fixed the issue. All good. They have a pool here and give pool towels. They have a snack bar too. They had mentioned they had a restaurant too but we never saw it operational. The breakfast is nothing to write home about. It's canned fruit, yogurt, cold scrabbled eggs and some bread or pastries, tea, coffee, got chocolate. They only serve the breakfast between 8-10 which forces you to get up early. Would have been nice if it was too 11am. The shuttle service they provided didn't come in time and didn't by search for us. We had to wave one down that was from the hotel. There is a bus stop right up the stairs from the hotel that can get you to Naoussa but it's pretty full from the town when it gets there; better to go to the town to take the bus. Has a bit of a view to the sea from the hotel. Overall, an...
Read moreWe stayed here in August.|I would say this hotel was good value for money and perfectly adequate. |Yes, the rooms are dated but they are kept very clean, bedding changed every few days and towels changed daily. Shower was great!|Michalis checked us in quickly and gave us lots of local info. |The A/C in our room wasn’t working, they got someone to fix it the following day but it still wasn’t great. We assumed it was the same in every room until our friends we were holidaying with told us their room was too cold!! Oh well! |Heleni seems to be managing the hotel and was always chatty and friendly, she always seemed on top of things at breakfast, telling staff to clear tables etc. |Breakfast was fine, though did get repetitive. |A proper coffee machine would have been wonderful! |The hotel has a path that leads to the beach, much safer than the main road as Parikia does not seem to have pavements! |The pool is lovely, sun loungers have seen better days though.|To sum up, hotel is fine for a base to explore, pool is great for chill days though lacks any atmosphere, as does the hotel in general. It however good value for money. |I think the hotel is missing a great opportunity, the balcony area has stunning views and with some effort in arranging evening entertainment it could be a nice place to spend the evening...
