We had two of the most wonderful weeks ever staying at Irini. Travelled as a family with two adults and one child in the two bedroomed apartment and my parents stayed in the one bedroomed apartment just next door. The apartment was probably one of the best I have stayed in for self catering in Greece, it was a brilliant size and contained everything you could possibly need. If you wanted to cook or prepare food indoors, every piece of crockery and good sharp knives and bottle openers were all available. We never did though as there was too many lovely good priced restaurants all within 10 minutes walk away. What made the stay at Irini the most special was Irini’s family who live in the same grounds and could not do enough to make you feel warmly welcomed. It was a pleasure to be around George and Soula and Irini and her boys. It was our 4th time in Alykes and whilst we said this year was going to be our last, we have booked to stay here again already next year. No cramped balcony with other tourists in breathing distance, great wifi and more importantly a lovely family who made our stay what it was. We cannot wait to go back and stay with our Greek friends which is what it feels like at Irini compared to a package holiday complex. Spotlessly clean, replaced washing up liquid and toilet roll and even enjoyed a beautiful supper with the family with the most amazing pork I have ever tasted and home brew wine. No dreadful noise coming from holiday singers or karaoke, only the sound of the cicades at night and the cockerels in the morning, and very safe for children. Roll...
Read moreWe have just returned from wonderful 10 night holiday at Irini's. George picked us up from the airport which was a wonderful start to our holiday. Our friends had one of the apartments on the first floor which was ready on our arrival. Our bungalow wasn't ready but that certainly wasn't a problem. Far from it! George sat us down on the shaded veranda of their own bungalow next door to ours. He proudly bought us a jug of his home made wine and wonderful Feta which home made olive oil. Couple of jugs of wine later our bungalow was ready! It was just two of us in this two bedroom bungalow which would suit a family but not a couple of friends as you had to walk through the second bedroom with twin beds to get to the kitchen and bathroom. Perfect for us. Huge veranda which was mostly shady. George and his lovely wife Soula on hand to help with anything you need. The whole family made us all so welcome one night when they invited us to their bbq with the most amazing tender pork. Back home today and I've already emailed Irini to get dates to come back in May and again in September. You will not be disappointed with your stay here. Its about a 10 minute walk into the main part of Alykes. We've always stayed the other end, past the salt flats. We much prefer this...
Read moreHad 12 days at Irini's and what a great little set of apartments.||Picked up and droped off at the airport by George saves the grind of taxi's or coach transfer.||Irini's is a really friendly family run small group of apartments, we had an upstairs 2 bed apartment, with views of from the long balcony of the Island and across to Kefalonia in the distance.||The rooms were comfortable and spacious, cleaned daily with the occasional bowl of fresh fruit picked from the garden left as a treat.||Irini and her family are a really friendly bunch, happy to help and chat. Pity we were unable to take up their invite to their BBQ on our last evening, I would have loved to try Georges home made wine.||Don't be put off by the lack of a pool, most other apartments in the area, are happy for you to use theirs as long as you buy refreshments from the pool bars. I think this is a bonus not having the noise from a pool at Irini's.||There was nothing that really would be considered as a bad experience here. Even when the door lock broke, and left us locked out of the apartment, George was quick to get on with the job of fixing it. By the time we returned to the apartment later in the afternoon, all was fixed.||I would highly recommend staying at Irini's, a really lovely little set...
