Big Fish Hostel — Hotel in Budapest

Whilst I throughly enjoyed my time in Budapest, this was due to the company I was with rather than the hostel. In other words, had the people staying in the hostel at the same time as me not been up for going out at night, I would not have had a good time. ||||This hostel is not very good. It organises NO social events and is NOT a social hostel- as it advertises. The staff were rude and unfriendly and quite frankly made me feel uncomfortable. They were very cliquey and would go out at night in their staff group- completely disregarding their guests which was very strange compared to other hostels. One of the staff members also slept during her shift... The staff also STOLE their guests' food from the fridge, despite it being clearly labeled. I was in the room whilst two staff members came into the room and took my coke right in front of my, commenting to each other how it was free. Additionally, my friends UNOPENED juice was taken, and our vodka was put into the 'free food' section, again despite being clearly labelled. This is unacceptable. ||||It does not provide breakfast or padlocks. Only redeeming thing is that it does provide a fully functioning kitchen...

I backpacked here with a friend recently, the hostel is a bit difficult to find as it is a floor in a big building. The kitchen is clean with nice lounge room for projectors, PC , lazing around etc. ||||The staff was helpful to help me reach bus station on time in morning and one of them even walked with me carrying one of my bag to reach on time. ||||The location is close to city centre and is a walk away from ruined bars - szimpla and Fogas. I had a good time there and coming back to hostel semi drunk wasnt a huge problem due to the short distance back home. ||Very friendly foreign staff speaking good english so not a huge problem with communication. very informational staff as well. The rooms are typical dorms with quaint furniture and fresh linen and beds.we didn't sleep a lot though as there is a lot to see in the city. We booked the table online, which was easy. ||After arrival we were received by a very friendly service team. They explained, how the ordering process works, properly and they answered all questions related to the dishes as experts in a very friendly manner.|We chose tuna tartar and octopus carpaccio as starters. The dishes were perfectly arranged on the plate and were just delicious! ||After finishing the dishes, the service team was immediately at the table to take away the dirty plates and to deliver the main dish. Just a small suggestion to the service: you may give the guests a little more time to digest the great dish. That was just a little bit too fast.||Main dishes were two different fish soups, the marseille soup and the Nordic soup type.
