Food - 5/5 (best quality) Service - 1/5 (being charged for a “service fee” (around 1400 HUF) which is not legally obliged in Hungary at all, just because we looked like tourists.
Food - The best and the most authentic Korean food I’ve ever had in the entire europe. Having lived in Europe for a while, I’ve visited so many Korean restaurants throughout the continent (I am Korean). This place really offers a genuine and the best quality of Korean food and Korean service. Side dishes including Kimchi come along for free, which is what restaurants actually do in Korea. The meat they use is really good quality as well, not frozen meat but a very fresh one - Portions are generous too, and the owner is simply so service-minded and passionate about his restaurant.
Service - HOWEVER, it is NOT obligatory to pay the “service fee” in Hungary. None of the restaurants I visited in Hungary for past three years (even Michelins) have charged me a service fee, and this is not “legally” obliged - which means restaurants do not charge Hungarian customers but ONLY tourists. I am really disappointed as one of the Hungarian workers was taking the payment from us and the owner ran to the casher saying “I’ll handle it” - we thought it was a nice gesture of him to say goodbye as we were Koreans, same as him, but we ended up being charged an extra 1400 HUF, without any explanation at all. I saw a Hungarian word similar to “service fee” on the receipt, so I asked him what it is. He murmured saying “it’s a service fee that every Hungarian restaurant charges in Budapest” and took the payment to hurry away. Really disappointed that he saw us as “Korean tourists that he can easily make more money of by just charging extra fee”. I wonder if Hungarian guests are also charged the same fee in this restaurant, and I can’t imagine how many Korean customers are paying this extra fee believing that all restaurants in Budapest actually charge the service fee. Read moreFirst of all, I love the food , real authentic Korean food, however , my story went like this , for the second visit I arrived at 09:56 PM on Aug 19,2022 in a hurry , hopping to grab a bite , something quick like a bibimbap , I asked a waiter if it was possible to order and he said yes and showed me to sit , I chose a table outside , whenI tried to order with an Asian waitress ( short bob hair, glasses , fair skin and very thin) , that was when all the drama started … basically she said no because the restaurant had closed ( google says 11:00 PM ) when I mentioned this , she changed her excuse , saying all orders must be made before 09:00 , I doubted it because the restaurant was almost full at that time and I still don’t believe now everyone ordered food strictly before 09:00 PM and asked frankly if she was being lazy and tried to finish her job sooner (on the rainy night) … she changed her excuse again , saying all food ingredients were finished , well, guess that was a secret ONLY she knew while the other waiter DID NOT at the first place ??? I was quite upset and told her that I would write the whole story on Google to let other customers know the service quality , I could have taken a picture of her if she thought she was honest but she immediately ran away , yes, she RAN …. the whole scene was extremely embarrassing! Read moreIt was a terrible experience eating there. First of all food were just average but with way higher prices.
When I said to the waiter, we’d like to have 2 rice and one big portion of a chicken something, he said I only need to order 1 rice because there’s already 1 included in the price of that chicken. But when I ask why there’s only 1 rice while another waitress bringing the food to us, she said ‘you only orders one, there’s no free rice within the chicken’. And she just not reacting anything after I told her that another waiter said there’s a rice with the chicken, till I say I’ll order 1 more rice.
Even more ridiculous is, we finished the food and I asked ‘can I HAVE the bill’, the waitress directly brought the bill to my boyfriend, asked him if everything is correct, completely ignored me even I’m the person asked for the bill and hold my card in my hand the whole time, but somehow put the POS in front of me right after my boyfriend said it’s correct.
I can’t imagine a reason for 3 of their waiters acting so weird together, but definitely never go...
