The apartment we stayed at was a far distance to the centre. We stayed in room 008 which was the only room on the ground floor, the bin storage and the emergency exit was right beside us and it smelled horrible from being beside the bin storage. I did feel very unsafe staying as we were on the ground floor and no other people beside us. The outdoor area we had wasn't closed in much, we had a big gap in the bushes between us and other residents and the car park beside the apartments which made me very nervous. We had children that were playing beside our outdoor area and they actually came through the bushes 3 different times into our outdoor area. We had the back door open so they were able to walk right in if they wanted to. My concern also was if there was mice/rats about and could smell the garbage, we couldn't leave the door open, and the air con didn't work at all. It was really warm in the apartment too and we did not feel comfortable leaving the window or door open. No fan in apartment either. There was a telephone in the apartment to buzz people in also, and this rang throughout the night on all our nights, we didn't know if there was someone at our door or the very front door. We eventually had to take it off the hook. I wouldn't of been able to sleep if I went on a girls trip as I didn't feel safe at all. Thank God my partner was there and he also felt uncomfortable. Even checking in was a nightmare as it is not very organised. We got a message to check in at 2.30pm and when we turned up there was atleast another 10 people trying to check in. No one knew which building it was, or how to get the keys from key boxes. No one on sight to ask. The WhatsApp number you get don't respond every time and the checkout was at 10am. Apartment was nice and spacious once we got over the smell, shower was also lovely. Bedroom was small and the bed clothes werent good, we had tiny pillows and a single blanket each in a double bed. Sofa was horrible to sit on and the tv did not work for us either. Overall not a positive...
Read moreThis is by far the best hotel I had stayed for my entire Eastern Europe trip and ironically, it wasn't even the one that I initially booked. The one I'd booked initially turned out that it was overbooked so this one was recommended to me by C-trip which I think was quite a reasonable substitute. This is a fully serviced apartment. It is very big. There is a separate bedroom, kitchen (together with a dining table), toilet, bathroom and living area (sofa bed with a big TV). In addition, there are two balconies overlooking a car park with a very pretty wall art against one of the walls.Firstly, it is located close to some city sights (not sure whether there is a city center in Budapest but everything was just a short hop away by bus or tram). It is close to the Nyugati and Keleti train station but still a good 15 minute walk, otherwise there are buses and trams close by. There are numerous restaurants in the area so there's no lack of choice there. Alternatively, to save a bit of money, you can buy food and cook yourself to save some money (which I did). There is a full kitchen in the apartments with a toaster, kettle, coffee capsule machine, microwave, big oven, dishwasher and of course the full set of cooking utensils (pots, pens, thongs...a cheese grater too!). The apartment also has a washing machine (but no dryer - it has a drying rack, and some drying poles in the bathroom).Reception is not 24 hour though. I think there is someone there from 8am to 8pm. I once left my room key in the apartment when I went out but thankfully it was within the hours where there was someone in reception. There were able to email the key room to me and with this, use my phone to open the door to my apartment (you need to download an app to do this though). Overall, this is by far the best place I'd stayed in for the...
Read moreMy Stay at Vagabond Soho, Budapest I recently stayed at the Vagabond Soho apartment in Budapest and had a fantastic experience. We opted out of breakfast, but the apartment was incredibly well-equipped for self-catering. It had a refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, stove, pots, pans, glasses, and all sorts of kitchen utensils. Everything was also very clean. Being within walking distance of several supermarkets made it incredibly easy to buy groceries and cook meals at the apartment. There's no reception desk at the building. After making the reservation online, they sent an email requesting information like passport numbers for online check-in. Once this was provided, on the day of arrival, we received another email with the building entrance code, apartment number, and the code for the key box where our keys were located. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. However, someone who apparently couldn't understand these instructions tried to force open my room door late at night. The internet was very fast. The apartment is also very close to tram and bus lines. The metro is just one tram stop away, but since Budapest's metro stations generally lack elevators, we mostly preferred using the buses, trolleybuses, and trams. There are some nightclubs around the building, but they seemed harmless, and I didn't witness any negative situations. There's an intercom phone in the room, which rang late at night from someone ringing from outside. For dining out, there are various alternatives nearby, including pizzerias and Turkish restaurants. Overall, I highly recommend Vagabond Soho for a comfortable and convenient stay in Budapest, especially for those who enjoy having...
