It happened last year! - worst experience
I spent one night in Queen Mary Hotel. I chose this place as it is in the VII. Dictrict in Central Budapest. Everyting is just a walking distance away (Andrassy street, Erzsebet square, St. Stephen Church, Vaci street etc). My room was ready at 2 pm and the recepcionist was very helpful, kind and friendly. I found my room and the hotel a little bit old-fashioned. But my room was clean and nice. The bed was alright, nothing special.
The breakfast is just a quick âeasy breakfast, a little someting to grab. You can choose from cereal, yoghurt, rolls with marmalade etc and coffee+orange juice+tea. I would say everything was alright. The employees worked hard to keep up the hotel. But hotel owner is very different. He is a kind of boss who used verbal abuse on his staff. The owner is pretty rude and a bit agressive and he can loose his temperature so easy. Obviously the owner cant deal with his guest and his staff too.
I can speak Hungarian so I could understand everything and I was pissed off to hear the boss (owner) talking to his recepcionist. I really dont believe that verbal abuse is a way of achieving the good service. The boss was blackmailing the recepcionist and told him âYou can pick up your coat now and leave. You do a bad a job hereâ. And the worst thing is everything happaned just in front of me. I am sorry but If you have problem with your people try to solve it after the working hours and try to be diplomatic. Altogether: Location is great, hotel quality is alright, but old-fashioned, staff is excellent,...

The door was broken and hurt my friend and they make her to pay it and the owner has a really bad behavior and shout to everybody and make gestures and he told us that he is gonna get us all the rooms if our friend didnât pay for the door that was broken and we told them before that it was broken not to mention that we also called the ambulance because of her wounds and also he told us not to put much food in our plates and when we got to sit to the breakfast a family with 3 kids were not allowed to sit together because the owner told us only 4 people can sit on the table and the one kid should sit alone ,we had to wait for the owner to clean everything and then to sit.everything was dirty and untidy. In the reception nobody smiled and they were rude and made expressions with their faces and they were so ironic. When we told them that we were out of toilet paper they give us one because they didnât know where they are and when the door hurt my friend they were no cleaners to clean and there was blood everywhere and they didnât put them in another room so they could fix it. It was the most horrible hotel I ever stayed I do not recommend it everything was horrible and the staff was really rude and the owner...
Read moreOverall the location is very close to the metro and tram stations, also close to some shops. Yet I must say the rooms were poorly designed. Curtains that didnât shut completely, heat not working, old water in the water boiler and the light switch, as well as the place you put the card in not working. One thing that deeply disturbed me was the cleaning staff coming in even if you didnât hang out the sign for them to clean your room. Honestly there was no cleaning, just a stranger tossing my stuff aside (literally tossing) so that they coulf make the bed⌠Displacing things..even took one of our towels accidentally and didnât even refill the toilet paper. The breakfast service was good for the price. The coffee machine is bad, really, please donât drink that. Yet you can tell that the staff is friendly and puts in effort. You have a variety of foods to choose from and they also make Omelette which I must say was good. Overall it wasnât that bad, yet I wouldnât recommend...
