The shuttle bus from the airport to Garden House was about a 20 minute journey.||||Buzzed to get in and we felt welcomed and comfortable right from the start and to the end of our stay. The man on reception was helpful and informative. Then another man came in and like us, he was from England. He was outstanding with the amount of advice he gave us and places he recommended. He circled a few places on the map he gave us and that was useful.||||Dropped our bags off in the room (number 6) and we were away walking to the city centre. You can get to city centre areas in 10-12 minutes or so but to get to a riverside bridge maybe about half an hour. ||||We discovered various eateries and bars on our way back and these were very good. McDonalds was also on the way and was useful for a quick snack. We did try local foods too!||||Some reviewers have said the area is a bit scruffy. Nah, it's not much different to many streets in the main centre and we have never felt safer in a major city than we did here no matter what time of day or night. ||||Garden House - ||||the staff - all friendly, polite and helpful||||Rooms - our room was good. The floor had a slight slant but it was fine. There is an angled wall in the bathroom and I banged my head on it EVERY day at least 2 or 3 times. We had a kettle and some coffee. The TV had lots of channels. I managed to track down an English speaking news channel. Yay! I also watched football and we all know we don't need any particular language for that. ||The shower was great! The room was pretty warm and that was good.||||garden - there is a small garden with a few seats and they are covered in case of rain. It was a very chilled out place to sit.||||Location - we tried many foods whilst in Hungary and because of this, we walked everywhere and did not use public transport so we could burn calories. So the location was perfect for us. It's not too far out anyway and we never had any problems finding our way back.||||The rooms were cleaned every day and we had new towels and the beds were made.||||We checked out on our last morning and we were allowed to keep our bags in the reception area so we went out and enjoyed our day. We were then permitted to use the garden area to sit in and wait for our shuttle and we could have coffee if we wanted it. ||||The staff are so relaxed and friendly making it feel like a good temporary home.||||We had a great stay overall and we would totally...
Read moreWe stayed in Room 6, from Friday till Monday (june 16). There the floor had a charming slope—just a few degrees off, but enough to give us the daily thrill of walking uphill indoors. A real workout bonus, if you think about it.
For the price we (and presumably everyone else) pay, you'd think they could splash out on a bit of paint and give the place a refresh. But hey, maybe peeling walls are part of the aesthetic. The shower was surprisingly okay—didn't expect that. Unfortunately, the room itself was starved of natural light. At times, it felt like we were cast as Harry Potter in his early cupboard-dwelling days. Without the magic.
To be fair, the staff were helpful with parking and shared useful info—so credit where it’s due.
In the end, it's bang average—just like most things in life: not great, not awful,...
Read moreMy friends and I had a great stay in this guesthouse the last few days. The room was clean upon arrival - the beds are cosy, and the room also included a fan which really helped keep it cool during the hot days. The staff are so friendly and happy to help with anything you need during your stay, including advice on the best places to go in Budapest. If you were interested in booking the bus/boat tour you can book it through them, and you will receive a 10% discount if you are a student which I thought was good. The back garden is also lovely to sit in during the nighttime as it is in a quiet area which makes it very peaceful! The guesthouse is about 10-15 minutes away from the city centre, and close to convenience stores which is also useful. We will definitely be...
