Potential tourist trap. Editing and adding: rude and arrogant management that does not respect the customers, as clearly seen on their reply below. Such businesses owners should not come in any touch with customers. Food and service were spot on, however: we got the check in Ft but were charged in USD, without asking or informing the mismatch and the extra charges (that you can see in the attached image). When we pointed that out to the waiter, we promptly received back the extra charged money in cash, around 1000 Ft. The waiter said he couldn't choose the currency prior to charging, which is unlikely, as it's never the case, and we doubt all tourists are willing to pay extra 5% in conversion fees. He also said that there was no one in charge we could talk to about the issue. Seeing the trust issues, had to rate one star and publish this warning for others.

The food was definitely good, but not amazing, and while the presentation was on point, the portion size was very small (I think we got 8(?!) gnocchi to accompany the not-huge steak). The prices aren't crazy, but they're still quite high for what you get. The negroni was super nice, though, and unlike is becoming the case with so many other places, you could actually feel the alcohol. The ambience was pleasant, too, but we were there at the end of May, and they didn't have air conditioning on, so it became a bit uncomfortable due to the heat. Too bad, because otherwise it's a very comfortable place from the nice seating and tables to the enjoyable decor and atmosphere.

One of the most tastiest restaurants I’ve been to! Every dish we ordered just got better and better. The flavours were just perfect. The chickpea soup with octopus was one of the best octopus dishes I’ve ever had! The octopus was so tender and just melted in your mouth. The tuna was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It just melted on your tongue. The service was exceptional and they treated you with the upmost professional respect. Coming from the U.K. the prices here were cheap for the food you got! Even while we have been here in Budapest we found this restaurant reasonably priced and well worth it! The wine menu is also amazing.

-Kozvetlenul a bejarati ajtoba kaptuk a foglalt asztalunkat, egesz vegig megfagytunk, kertem pokrocot, hogy legalabb a parom ne fagyjon at teljesen, persze nem tudtak adni, a vegen mar telikabatban ultunk bent. -Masfel orat vartunk rendeles utan a foetelekre.

For your response: -As you could probably see on you camera recordings, I was taking photos of the foods, so I can prove that I took the photo of my main course at 21:53pm, and our reservation was for 7:00pm. Some people at our table didn't have any starters, try to tell them serving main courses 2 hours after arriving are acceptable. -Of course I wrote the review in a frustrated tone, since this was my worst restaurant experience lately. -For the temperature, probably you couldn't hear, but my friends were WAY FAR from being fine with it, almost everyone was complaining at our table, and the girls were supercold, another girl was wearing jacket in the end, and that's why 4 of us left earlier than rest of the group. I usually wear a Tshirt everywhere, at home I wear shorts as well during winter, I'm not a cold type person, but if you suggest me to dress warmer for your restaurant than for others you should write this to your website and menu as well probably like the invisible service charge. Thank you for the advice though. -The beef cheek: I have photo of that too, I sent it to several people already, nobody can notice any sign of beef on that (beef cheek is very easy to recognise even by the look), but if you swear it contains beef too, then I can believe like 95% pork and 5% beef it could be. But in this case you shouldn't call it beef cheek. And of course I ate it, being starved for 2 hours before serving. :D -Yesterday I didn't wanna mention the totally RAW 'rose' duck my friend left there completeley, and the dessert you totally forgot about, but now I remember these as well. -You say even the "worst filthiest places" charge the service charge, but as I heard this morning, to others from my group you didn't charge it in the end, for our fair complaints, and also the drinks were free, which is very generous, but somehow both the drinks and the service charge were billed for myself. We can call it bad luck I guess. -Calling your customer a liar publicly won't help your case at all. -Still 1/5 stars, HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED.

Merry Xmas &...

I had tried Oinos before the Pandemic, it was mostly an italian oriented restaurant. I had bad experience with bad pizza and bad wine. And thought i would never go there again. Recently a couple of friends organized a brunch after trying it and insisted the concept gad changed and the food was good. I am always open to review and update my opinions. I accepted to join them. One of us had an immediate issue with salmon eggs benedict. He was surprised to see it served 5 min only after he ordered, but even more surprised to have a not warm eggs or sauce. . Nearly cild. He complained. The waiter tried to certify that it was all freshly made but sounded not convincing. He finally took it and said he would replace it. 5 min later new plate came but our friend cursed again. It was still not even lukewarm. He was hungry and decided not to argue again. But when at the end the waiter askednhim how was it, he could not resist reporting it was as bad as the first😀. The waiter swore by all Gods that it was freshly made "à la minute", but i commented that there seemed to be an issue with the temperature in the kitchen. The waiter did not argue and said"it is on the house". He 8ndeed deleted the debit, which was very professional. But our friend just wanted normal warm eggs benedicts, not free cold eggs😊. I fortunately had ordered from the lunch menu. A pulled pork burger. It was at good temperature. The fries were not bad but lacking any character. The burger too. And there was an obvious lack of generosity in the portion and the presentation, and it was rather expensive. Another guest complained of bad latte, and an english brunch that came very late , after everybody else, only after he had to remind the waiter. There are much better enjoyable and creative brunches in town. You may try it but better avoid a sunday. Probably not the regular staff in the kitchen. Try another place, unless you have a reason...

I really, really wanted to enjoy the experience. I've been to Oinos before for dinner, and it was fabulous. I thought that brunch would be no different. I was sorely disappointed. The service was abysmal. Sitting down and ordering was fine, but once we ordered, it's like we ceased to exist. We ordered two meals for the very little children first. They knew we ordered for them early because we needed to get food for them - young ones often have more trouble waiting. It took more than 30 minutes to get one waffle and an order of pancakes! How is this possible? We understand that the more complicated meals could delay the food, but these were two of the simplest dishes, and they were ordered in advance! We were already upset by this. But what was worse was that it took more than an hour (!) to get the rest of our food. And even then, it didn't come out all at once. My husband's risotto came out a full ten minutes before my scrambled eggs and toast. How is this even possible? After about 45 minutes of waiting, we asked our waiter what was taking so long. He said, "well, that table has been waiting almost an hour. There's a delay in the kitchen." And that was it. No offer to solve the problem, no offer of even tap water for the table, or a few pieces of bread. We just had to sit there, getting hungrier and angrier. And the food, once it came, was mediocre at best. Not at all the standard we had had before. I don't know if this is an issue with brunch, or if the quality has gone down altogether. I can't say I'm willing to find out. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I used to recommend Oinos to everyone. Now I'm going to tell people to avoid it. It's just...
