Kalmár Panzió — Hotel in Budapest

Stayed here for a week with 2 friends. Really wanted a hotel with an outdoor pool and found this on booking.com. Booking.com is very misleading, as the photos of the pool and building are actually of the beautiful Gellert Spa up the road - this place was somewhere different made up of a series of apartment rooms. Even though we were promised a 'triple room with three single beds', we had one bedroom with a double fold-out bed and another bed was constructed in the kitchen area so felt cramped. It was also very old-fashioned with wood cladding everywhere, so a very dark room, and the windows had bars on so we couldn't open them. The kitchen-bedroom had no curtains as well so was very bright to sleep in at 6am. There was another room as well off our corridor which other people stayed in, it was bit weird for them as they had to cross our hallway to use their bathroom - really they should have given us the whole set of rooms so that me and my friends would have had a bed each. ||||Despite this, it turned out to be a comfortable stay, and we did get unexpected extras like a kitchen area so could make our own breakfasts in the morning. We also got fresh towels every day and the washing up done for us. However, there were also other hidden costs that booking.com didn't highlight, such as 9 euros per day for the air-con (some days we didn't even use it but were still charged!) ||||Overall location was excellent, and it's good value for money if you know what you're getting - just double-check before you book first that it's the right...

Bit of a random booking and we had the owner text us asking what time we were arriving as she needed to take her kids to ball practice ? Anyways our train was delayed from Prague so we just got a taxi to the location.|Quickest hello and hand over keys. Had to pay €4 cash which we also didn't know abut but okay.|We went out straight away as literally only had like 6 hours there before night fall and 03am pick up to airport.|On the way back the dog was out. My friend was so nervous as it was just running round.. luckily I have a small dog so I'm more confide t. My friend went into the room as I tried to stop it barking and jumping up! The dog ran off with my hat and wouldn't stop chewing on my bag!! |Anyways I got it to run off and I gt in the room.... I would really let people know this as its quite important to know a dog might be running loose on ur return back. It's quote a big dog and could really intimidate someone |My friend left me to deal with it so good job I could lol.| Also the gate needs slamming shut else it could get out which was anther worry I had !! Little strange as getting up in the night the locked door next to the bathroom someone was having a shower ? Good job we only had a few hours to sleep as I couldn't relax thinking they were going to open the door and come in! ||Fine for a budget stay and short visit but if ur there for a full weekend or couples thing. I NEVER EVER had such a BAD weekend in my life. Stress, tears. I cant bellieve that existing in the EU at so good location that kind of "service". We arrived at 20:30 !!!! and the owner watered the garden. Another cute guests opened us the gate, because he acted like he cant hear the doorbell and nobody answered our phone call. The owner said what are we doing there? I said we booked a room and its payed already. Than he said its too late we had time till 20:00 (but they are living there and they have all the keys!!).He sent us away it wasnt allowed enter his property we had to search another place to sleep and it was not easy. I didnt had internet connection, next day I read their rules that for 15 EUR possible a late check in. He not even said about that one word!! Next day we went back to sleep there, but the wife said they gave already for somebody our room. And of course they took our money! So let`s say they are criminals and looks like not at first time.By the way the rooms are in...
