Review of Boehm Art Hotel Budapest. Firstly, only one of the two elevators in the hotel is functioning. This resulted in long wait times. Upon check in to our suite, my fiancé said the entire room, and especially the bathroom had a foul odor. I should have immediately notified management to change rooms, but we were anxious to start our vacation, so ignored my fiancé’s complaint. The next morning the foul odor was much stronger. I went to the front desk and made the attendant aware of the problem. She indicated that the problem would be resolved if we allowed the water to run in the sink & shower for 5 minutes. We did so, and left the room for the day. Upon return, the odor was even more repulsive, but it was late and my fiancé was ill and did not want to repack and switch rooms at 11pm. At 8am the following day, I requested room change and conference with the hotel manager. We needed to wait an hour to change rooms and were consequently late for a booked excursion. I explained the dissatisfaction and inconvenience to the manager. I proposed that he waived the $30 Euro late check out fee and “comp” us 2 standard breakfast meals. He indicated that my request was excessive, and offered to waive a $30 Euro 3 hour late fee, but not the breakfasts, which I’m sure would have cost the hotel not more than $5 Euro. I should not have accepted the room with the foul odor at check in, but was later informed that the staff knew this was a perpetual problem in part of the building. But, for a $5 breakfast cost, the manager (who was a respectful & nice young man) is the reason that I’m taking the time to write this negative review. I wouldn’t want other travelers to have to accept a very foul odor in their room. Best to find another hotel with no foul odors and elevators that are in good working order. I stayed at this hotel for three nights. While the first two nights were pleasant, the final night was nothing short of a nightmare. I was staying in Room 506 and, shortly after getting into bed, began experiencing intense itching. Within 10–15 minutes, I discovered multiple bites all over my body – clear signs of bedbugs.
The situation was distressing and completely unacceptable. At 2am, I had to shower and call reception because I couldn’t bear the discomfort. The night staff member, Agnes, was helpful and moved me to a different room (Room 106), but the damage was already done – I was left physically uncomfortable, unable to sleep, and deeply unsettled.
What’s even more frustrating is that despite raising a formal complaint and requesting a partial refund for the final night, the hotel has refused to offer any form of compensation. This lack of accountability is incredibly disappointing for a hospitality business.
The presence of bedbugs is a serious health and hygiene issue, and the way the management has handled it has only added insult to injury. I would strongly caution others before booking a stay here. If something goes wrong, don’t expect them to take...
Read moreStayed in the hotel end of October 2021. The family room was great - large ceiling and a special type of "bunk bed", i.e. the upper level (two places) about 3 meters above the beds on the 'lower deck'. Worked very will with two adults, two kids. Bath was behind a wall in the room, but really okay (toilet is separate, of course). All in all very clean and nicely decorated. Location is perfect, on the Pest side, on a small street parallel to the Danube on the one side and the touristy street Vaci uta on the other, however, very quiet. And closely located to the Metro station Fövam ter (3 Minutes walk), which also have a tram line following the Danube northwards (Pest center, Parliament). If you cross the bridge, there is another tram stop which also connects easily to the Buda sights (Castle etc.). Breakfast was not available at the hotel during this time, but free coffee and tea 24/7....
