I was able to book an air-conditioned double room here for me and my mother the morning before we arrived. It is a very nice, comfortable, but not fancy hotel.||The prices are reasonable, rooms clean and comfortable, with rain showers and good water pressure. I had no problems with the wifi (although I didn't use a laptop, just phone and tablet). We were in a second floor (floor above ground floor) room opening to a side street, not the courtyard, and didn't have any noise issues, although people weren't out socializing really late and it's certainly not a party hostel. The courtyard is nice in the evening and they do sell drinks - also while we were there, there were a couple adorable kittens who were fun to watch. :-)||Breakfast from 7-10am is included with the room and is fresh and varied and includes eggs, meat, and cheese as well as lighter options.||The location is about five minutes' walk from the basilica, 20 from the bridge to Slovakia, and 30 from the bus station (which in July is a very hot walk...more prepared people might call a taxi and there might be a local bus, but I don't know which one). This was perfect for us, since we only had one day/night in town and mostly wanted to see sights in that area. There are also some semi-natural areas nearby which we didn't have time to explore, but we did see a pair of hoopoes just up the street, which was very exciting. All in all, the location was both pleasant and relatively convenient.||The desk staff spoke excellent English and ranged from very friendly to slightly brusque - the kind of service North Americans often find rude but which is common in this region. They were all helpful and called a taxi for us when we left (the taxi driver was also extremely helpful, driving us directly to our bus and hurrying us into it so we didn't have to wait for the next bus).||I would definitely stay here again. If air conditioning is important for you, you may want to try to book further ahead and ask for it, as apparently not all rooms are air-conditioned. Also, I couldn't see any way of adjusting or turning off the A/C, which was not a problem for us but I know some people don't like sleeping with it on - but we...

The good news is that it’s very clean. Now the bad. The hallways are similar to walking in a prison. Echoing is horrible and the doors and door locks are ridiculously loud. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this hotel is not for you. The room was hot and you need a degree in engineering to figure how to adjust it. No phones in the rooms so you have to use your own phone to contact the front desk. Apparently they decided what temperature the room should be. Hotel is right by the cathedral and the bells go off every half hour all day and night. ||The reservation guy at check in looks like he hadn’t shaved in a month and was not friendly at all. Tried to get information about local restaurants and he got rude about it. Big surly guy who cares little about customer service. Tried to overcharge us at check in. ||Then, at 6am the fire alarm goes off and scared everyone to death. No way to contact the front desk so we are running around packing our stuff. Then it stopped and I get dressed and go to the desk to see what the problem is. Nobody knows and they just walked away. No explanation at all. ||So if you want to stay here, you have...

First the great : the male receptionist we met on our arrival. He was very helpful and efficient. Sorry didn't catch his name but he is a credit to this business. Next the very good : the location...we arrived by bike and it's a fantastic location for arrival and departure on 2 wheels. Proximity to the Basilica perfect. And the goid: the price. Now for the reasons behind the rather poor rating : the room was cold with heaters turned off shortly after we arrived, the room was not very clean with dead insects and other things left on the floor (eg broken pen ends, chipped bits of plastic), the shower door was broken and old, the television didnt work for us, the provided duvet was thread bare and there were no extra blankets provided on a 0c night, and worst of all, the bottom bed sheet didn't fit the bed leaving a stained mattress exposed at the foot end. Definitely needs to improve. Very...

Very nice hotel at the center of Esztergom city. You can easily get access to the Basilica and nice restaurants. The hotel itself is not a huge facility but you can hear the birds singing in the morning, which I think is romantic. You will have an easy breakfast in the morning at the hotel, so you need to walk a lot to able to get food. No slippers in the room and amenity is poor, so took away a star. Overall highly recommended.
