We arrived at 3pm with the restaurant being half full. The weightier was really kind and quick to take our order. He did warn us about the wait time, as lot of delivery and local order was being prepared. It wasn’t a problem, so we waited patiently.
After waiting for about 25 minutes, we have received our soups we have ordered. That was a rather long time to serve soup.
Jokai bableves is where the problems started aside of the long wait time. Some of the beans were half hard and dry. The meet was salty and chewy. It was a rich soup regarding ingredients but it was far from good. The bread was at least two days old (served with the soup). It was dry and hard, obviously due to being Sunday, none fresh bakery delivered. After the soups we are sitting on 2 stars out of five and definitely not thanks to food but rather the friendly service.
The Cesar also came with the same tartar sauce as my fried vegetables. Cesar salad should come with its own sauce!!! The fried pork Paris style was nothing special. It was eatable. Same goes for the grilled vegetables. But the Cesar salad is definitely a big NO!
The ONLY reason I am giving two stars are due to the friendly customer service. I will not be returning to this place...
Read moreI have experienced here what never before. I am Hungarian and I have visited Esztergom with my family on a long weekend. We had a dinner in this restaurant on our first evening and we got a very good first impression: nice place, lovely stuff, huge and delicious dishes. That's why we decided to return and have a lunch on our last day before leaving the city. About an hour after getting our drinks and ordering the food, seeing that people arriving later than us were finishing their lunch, I asked the stuff about the status of our order, and it turned out that somehow they missed to enter it into their system and our order wasn't started to process at all. And then the surprise arrived. The stuff apologized for the mistake and we got the offer that they take our order again and we get it for free, and we should pay only for further orders. We agreed and we got our order within the next 20 minutes, delicious and huge dishes again. Then we ordered desserts for the kids. Finally our complete order was free and we also got a bottle of wine as a present. I have never experienced this kind of attitude in any...
Read moreSaturday lunchtime (e.g. until 15:00) is a very busy time for the town and when we came to NEXT unannounced, the waiter offered us a spot 20 minutes later. Absolutely worth it. I had the cherry soup, which was really nice and refreshing, a great way to start your meal with a dessert without feeling weird. My boyfriend had the catfish halaszlé, which I tasted and it was really yummy too. For a main, I had the stuffed breast & potato gnocchi. A couple of notes - unless you come in STARVING, the portion is unfinishable. You get enough gnocchi for 2, maybe 2 and a half portions. It's also covered in garlicky cheese sauce, which makes it very filling. The sauce is necessary, though, since the meat is a little dry (as breasts tend to be). Pro tip: if you want sparkling water, go for soda, it's much cheaper than mineral water and you get the...
