This apartement is located perfectly in the center of Reykjavik, everything can be reached by foot within a few minutes walk. Unfortunately the apartement is badly maintained and quite dirty. The rooms are arranged like a circle, means you have to cross either 2 bedrooms, or one bedroom and the bathroom to reach the kitchen, which is not suitable if you really need all 3 bedrooms (e.g. if you travel as a group of 6 people like we did). The kitchen is incredibly small and poorly equipped, so 6 people can not sit and enjoy a meal together. Everything is actually tiny, there is almost no space for your baggage, and each room has only one very little wardrobe. In addition to these problems, the worst of all was that the lack of privacy when getting a shower or going to the toilet, since the doors to the bathroom could not be locked properly. So, dont have high expectations, and if you are not more than 4 people on a short trip and dont put value on cleanliness, you can go for it - but dont forget earplugs since you hear everything from the other apartement in the 2nd floor. I would not recommend...
Read moreWe stayed here over Christmas, and couldn't have been more pleased. The location is perfect for walking the Old Town - we didn't have a car and it was never an issue. When we first arrived, we were concerned about the fact that the heat didn't appear to be working. Called the number (didn't even leave a message) and got an immediate call back. At first, the maintenance man just gave us basic instructions on how to operate the radiators. A while later, he called back, saying he was on his way over to check. Then, he called again, having learned that the hot water was out all over downtown Reykjavik - and that it would be back on by 11:00. By 9:30, our apartment was toasty and we had no other issues with wifi, utilities or plumbing during our visit.||||This particular apartment (Thingholtsstraeti 7) is accessed by steep stairs and has a slightly lower than normal ceiling - our 6 ft+ sons kept bumping their heads on the hallway light fixture - but otherwise we were very comfortable and the owner even went out of his way to make it cheery for...
Read moreThe location is great - a peaceful side road but literally 5 minutes walk from the centre. We had the 2 bed 1st floor apartment in Bokholstraiti. It looks lovely inside but has clearly not been decorated to actually live in. In the kitchen, all drawers and cupboards are way above head height, so you have to literally stand on chairs to get cutlery etc. We were asked to throw rubbish out but no bin bags were provided. There was no tea towel, so the previous occupant had put everything away wet - we used a bath towel in the end. The trendy side lights in the bedroom didn't work, the wardrobe hadn't been made up inside so there were no rails. The bathroom had no blind - although the lower half of the windows was opaque, the upper part wasn't and the house opposite could see straight in - not fun when you are showering. If you need a place for a night, this is great because of the location and price, otherwise, it has some...
