My boyfriend and I ate here and had an unpleasant experience. To be fair, it was great until it was time to leave. I live in this area and been here before so I knew that we had to pay by the bar area. My boyfriend paid and we stayed a little to chat before getting up to leave. I dropped by the bathroom before leaving and noticed this other waitress, who didn’t serve us at all, staring at me but I ignored it. Two steps down the stairs and she stopped us. This was our actual conversation:
Waitress: I’m sorry but you have to pay upstairs. Me: Oh yeah, we already paid. Waitress: How? By card? or cash? Boyfriend: By card (and we both gestured to this guy at the bar) Waitress: Where did you pay? Boyfriend and I: (again pointed at the guy at the bar) Me: We paid directly to that guy at the bar (and smiled) At this point, it felt like she truly believed we had not paid but she didn’t go to the guy at the bar either which would’ve been the best way to truly know whether we paid or not. Our primary waitress passed by and again this other waitress asked her while pointing at us… Waitress: Did they pay? Me: We paid at the bar. (We bypassed our primary waitress because we hadn’t seen her at the time we paying so she didn’t know. She shrugged her shoulders as if caught off guard by the question)
So this rude waitress marched to the bar and asked the guy to whom we paid at and pointed at us and said “did they pay?” and so this guy was like “yeah!”. This rude waitress continued on going on the computer pressing random numbers I guess I don’t know but my boyfriend and I just walked away in shame. She didn’t even apologize, she couldn’t even look at us after that. It wasn’t so much a misunderstanding but an accusation. Her line of questioning was rude and she spoke in a loud manner, not discreet at all. She wasn’t asking, she was assuming we hadn’t paid because at the end she kept her chin up.
So I went home feeling so offended. Normally, I let stuff like this go but it was rude and I don’t wish for it on anybody. I called the restaurant and shared my experience but all they said was like “oh yeah, sometimes our costumers go downstairs to pay but they don’t”. They didn’t even acknowledge my experience but shrugged it off. Clearly, they have a system problem that they have to change instead of harassing customers...
Read moreA disappointing experience. We've visited multiple Hard Rock cafe's around the world, including this one once before. But this night was a mess....
First we had to wait for 15-20minutes to even get to order. I had to wave the waiter over to us after trying to get her attention for quite some time.
The wait then continued to get our drinks which also delayed for quite some time.
When the food finally arrived, they had provided the wrong meat - chicken instead of beef as I ordered. I asked if they could change it for beef as initially ordered. They took it back.. One would think that this should go rather quick, but alas it did not... My girlfriend had eaten her food to prevent it from getting cold...Then finally the come back with a bowl of a steak in it... I was completely baffled..."is this for me?", the waitress smiled and nodded and ran off again... ( see my image..one is of how the dish is supposed to look, the other is the bowl of meat I got after asking to get beef instead of chicken... )
I eventually went back to the waitress, gave her the bowl of meat back and just asked to get the check after all this mess...
She then got her manager, which was the first time that night I experienced someone took responsibility and made things right. He acknowladged that this should never happen, and made sure they made a new dish. We also did not have to pay for our main courses, which I think was fair with all this taken into consideration. All in all, the manager was very professional and saved the end of the night here. I hope the staff though learn from this and make sure no one else have to experience...
Read moreI recently visited the Hard Rock Cafe in Reykjavik and had mixed feelings about my experience. While I used to love their Lamb Tenderloin, I was disappointed to find out that it's no longer on the menu. That being said, I decided to try their Beef steak, and while it was okay, I didn't enjoy it as much as their previous Lamb Tenderloin.
Additionally, I had a bit of a mishap with my sauce order - I requested herb butter sauce, but the waitress accidentally gave me black pepper sauce instead. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't what I had wanted, and it detracted from my overall dining experience.
One issue I had with the service was that it could feel a bit rushed when trying to place an order during dinner service. While I understand that they are trying to accommodate a lot of guests.
On the positive side, the ambiance at the Hard Rock Cafe Reykjavik was good. The old school rock MTV playing in the background added to the mood and made for an enjoyable dining experience. Overall, while I had a few issues with my experience, I would still recommend the Hard Rock Cafe Reykjavik to others, especially if they are looking for a lively atmosphere...
