Title: Discriminatory Practices and False Promises: Hotel Poonja International, Mangalore
Rating: ⭐
My recent encounter with Hotel Poonja International in Mangalore left me utterly dismayed, and I feel compelled to share my experience to alert potential guests about the discriminatory practices I encountered.
Booking Deception: ⭐ Having confirmed my reservation verbally and trusting the integrity of the hotel, I arrived with the expectation of an early check-in, as promised during the booking process. However, upon arrival, I was met with a dismissive attitude, and the staff flatly denied me an early check-in, despite my prior confirmation.
Discrimination Against Online Bookings: To add insult to injury, it became apparent that the hotel discriminates against guests who book through online retailers such as MakeMyTrip. The receptionist hinted that direct bookings might have received preferential treatment. This discriminatory approach left me feeling marginalized and disheartened.
Communication Breakdown: ⭐ The lack of communication between the hotel staff and the booking platform was glaringly evident. The verbal confirmation I had received seemed to hold no value, and the hotel's failure to honor their commitment reflects poorly on their professionalism and customer service.
Denied Accommodation: ⭐⭐ To my shock, the hotel not only refused an early check-in but also failed to provide a room altogether. This left me stranded and feeling utterly disregarded as a paying guest. The lack of empathy and basic courtesy was nothing short of appalling.
Customer Service: ⭐ The overall customer service experience was deplorable. The staff's dismissive attitude and apparent bias against online bookings created an environment that was unwelcoming and hostile. Disregarding the existence of advance bookings .
Conclusion: My experience at Hotel Poonja International in Mangalore was not only disappointing but also disheartening. Discrimination against guests who booked through online platforms, coupled with false promises and a complete disregard for customer service, paints a bleak picture of this establishment. I strongly caution prospective guests to reconsider staying here and explore alternatives that prioritize fairness, transparency, and basic...
Read moreThe hotel is pathetic and the service is horrible. It is very old and badly needs renovation. The rooms stink, they had kept CRT TV just for the sake of it, overall unpleasant experience. I don’t recommend to visit this hotel. There are much better options in Mangalore for lesser price. They had promised for breakfast while booking the hotel and paying the advance stating it is included. But when we asked for it in the hotel they denied and claimed that they never offered for it. There was no clear confirmation on the booking details sent over email. The water was brown and muddy, when complained they told there is a repair work going on. They dint even bother to inform or warn about this. No respect for customers from the hotel management. We reached the hotel after a very long drive for about 10 hrs and were totally exhausted. We thought of having dinner in the hotel itself as it was late in the night and reached the restaurant. The condition of the restaurant is horrible. The furniture is not cleaned and maintained. There was lot of dust on the sofa, chairs and table. We had to search for some better place and requested them to clean them. We waited for over 2 hours to get our food orders served. They tested our patience and our hunger had drained out. Finally we went to their kitchen and complained for the delay but they gave inapt reason stating lack of employees where as we were the only customer in the restaurant. The orders were messed up the food was not worth the money. They had made blunders with the billing during checkout in spite of multiple reminders and called us to pay the additional amount even when we were driving on our way. Very arrogant and irresponsible behavior...
Read morePathetic experience!!! The hotel's so-called USP is its location, but dealing with the abysmal rooms and service is beyond infuriating. The entrance and lobby might trick you into thinking it's a luxury spot, but the reality of the dismal room and housekeeping situation is downright maddening!!
Washroom: Disoriented commodes and cave-like smells. Leaking taps.
Floor tiles: Creaking sound from some of them.
Wardrobe: The width of the cupboard is hardly 6-8 inches where you can hardly keep your stuff.
Housekeeping was a complete letdown! I handed in my room keys early in the morning, specifically asking for a cleanup by 2 PM. Despite the receptionist's assurance upon my return, the room was far from tidy. Multiple attempts to reach housekeeping by phone were met with silence. The front desk pledged a swift resolution but left me waiting for a frustratingly long hour. Frustrated, I handed over the keys again, emphasizing the urgency of getting the room cleaned this time. Upon my return, I inquired about the room's status, and the receptionist confidently claimed it was cleaned without actually checking. Only when I pressed him did he bother to verify. This level of service is simply unacceptable! Why do you need to answer promptly to the customer without any prior confirmation?
Breakfast: Daily repetitive menu and taste is subpar. Asked them whether we can get an omlette and the person replied " jo hai yahi hai"!
Parking was a nightmare! No idea who handles it, but when I needed to leave the hotel at 5 AM, someone had parked their car right in front of mine. The guards were asleep, making it a 30-minute ordeal to get my car out. Total...
