I have visited this place two decades ago, so decided to once again go now. We were told there were only one room available and that others were all fully booked. We agreed, and a badly dressed room boy guided us to a very dirty room, filled with Moss, unclean Leaking Bathrooms, smelly bed... It looked like a lodge, with some bachelors staring at us.
Then I returned to the ground floor reception and shouted at the reception boy, questioning if this is what he gives to a family. Then he said there is a single luxury room costing around 2000, and that we need to wait 5 minutes, and the guests there had already left. He promised me great things after an apology.
For some strange reason, we thought we'd give it a try, and check the room. We weren't comfortable, still driving all the way from Bangalore, it was a bit tiring, and there was no much energy going hotel hunting.
The room given to us then was truly luxurious, with a/c, LCD TV, beautiful bedding, awesome showers with hot water bath, paintings, carpeted, sterilised towels, well-dressed room boy... I was happy, but still angry that such a hotel had very dirty rooms to offer its clients.
The next day we had been out on a tour, and returned evening for dinner at the restaurant on ground floor. The cashew curry was awesome with roast naan, and other items, being fully filled with cashews, and that too, just costing 150 for a plate. Considering all these, I will definitely not give 5 stars, and it's not right to give it 1 star either.
It's like staying in a good house amidst slums. Should I go next time? Hmmm, I'm really...
Read moreHere is a very comprehensive review of my experience at the hotel:
The hotel is located in the heart of the city.
There is ample parking space available at the hotel.
The complimentary breakfast (CB) is available till 10am and is quite good, eventhough there are only 5-6 items for CB. The food in the restaurant (other than CB) is also good.
The AC rooms are clean and tidy. The AC in my room (no. 105) was an old one with medium cooling and could not be controlled, since its an old model without remote and the manual buttons were all damaged. But the room was quite cozy and comfortable.
The bathroom was a bit substandard and unclean. There was lack of facility to hang ur clothes inside the bathroom (there was a cloth rod, but the clothes would slip off and fall right into the water below). The water tap in our washroom was leaking and hot water is not available 24x7 (you can also call housekeeping and request them to turn on the heater, if necessary). Also, the bathroom carpet was cheap which did not capture water (hence the floor in the room could become wet and messy).
The room-boys are also polite and hospitable. Extra bed facilities are also available for a price.
The hotel is near to malls, markets, ideal ice cream shops and many other attractions. This was an added advantage.
Uber taxis were also easily available at any time, at the hotel.
Overall it was a good experience and is...
Read moreOnce we stayed in this so called international hotel. There is nothing international about it. We were given a room which was very dirty. No fresh air was coming. The flush in the toilet was not working. We struggled very hard with our two granddaughters for about half an hour. Then I went to the reception and requested them to change our room. First, they said all the rooms were booked. Then, I told them to call some hotel like Punja Arcade for a better room. Only then, they gave us a better room. For This, I had to quarrel a lot at the counter. There is no proper parking place of their own. They told us to park our car across the road which belong to some one else.Regarding food, I never had the courage to taste it because of my earlier experience and what was in store was a question mark. Totally, my Mangalore stay in this hotel was horrible. Again, we are having a booking in this hotel for couple of days but I am not going to stay there. ONE experience is enough for...
